This is the first drama I’ve ever watched that genuinely surprised me in every scene. It’s not like the typical dramas where you can easily predict what will happen next. Especially in the last two episodes — just when you think, “Ah, this will definitely happen,” the story takes a different turn. And yet, those unexpected developments still make perfect sense. It’s intriguing, satisfying, and refreshingly different.
This drama has quickly become one of my favorite Bai Lu dramas. It stands out not just from her past works, but from other xianxia dramas in general. The storyline is exceptionally well written — unique, layered, and emotionally resonant.
One of the things that struck me most was the contrast in beliefs and perspectives between the male and female leads. The drama also beautifully emphasizes the importance of choice — the power and consequences of the decisions people make. From BJS willingly taking the punishment meant for HRY, to Fan Jiao Jiao making difficult decisions for his daughter, every character’s choices play a crucial role in how the story unfolds. That’s what makes this drama so compelling and meaningful.
