well yes, but the characters at least should be more or less the same, even if they change the events. in this case, the only characters that are true to the manga is the father, basically. the script is very corny and bland in general. ex. the running gag about mamoru. i dunno, it's not like i was a huge fan of the manga, either, and maybe i would have enjoyed the drama a bit more if i'd gone into it first, but i feel like it's kind of poorly made. to each their own, however.

they kind of butchered the manga. the characters aren't true to the original ones at all, they brought in a lot of unnecessary new characters and the script is blah. dropped it after the middle of the 4th episode. it's a shame, what with the casting and all. they could have done better.
