This is all in the same universe as the Love Mechanics series. Some of the characters here were also featured in the other series. So far, knowing this only gives a little bit of background to some of the names they drop for characters that are never seen on screen.
Never slept better. The nap I took while watching the first ep was great. Although this is only the 1st ep of this series, I am already looking forward to the remake. Hopefully the remake will be like the Mark/Vee story, but in the mean time, I think I found a nice treatment for my insomnia.
There are "slow burn" romances, and then there are "a series of dumpster fires where arson is suspected," romances. The 1st episode left me unprepared for the comedic elements of the 2nd episode. Truly, did I even watch the right show?
Apparently there were prequel episodes? Does that mean there are 2 more episodes that I didn't watch? The 2 episodes I watched are so discordant in their tone that I am left questioning whether or not I watched what I thought I watched.
With the tone of the 1st episode, the near-misses in the 2nd episode can be interpreted as "tragic," which I am ashamed to say I believed all the way up to the point where someone got a vibrator stuck up their ass. I should've known better. Does that count as spoiler or a warning? I don't even know...
After the first ep, it seems interesting, but I think I'll wait until there are some better subtitles for it. There's too much text that isn't being translated at all, but it isn't nearly as bad as War of Y was (/is?). (speaking of which, did War of Y's subs ever improve?)
The answer is "no." The ending kills it and at the same time it also highlights the vague lack of resolution and development throughout the entire series. "Do they end up in a relationship?" Based on their utter lack of intimacy and the way that nothing changes after he sort of comes out, it looks like they simply remained close friends. The only mention of his coming out is a joke that suggests his love interest is an idiot. Because of this, it isn't clear whether or not they get together.
The ending wants to play it off like a cliffhanger where they're just about to become a couple, but we already know the answer to that. Some of these BL shows avoid intimacy like a child avoids "cooties," presumably because they don't want to show anything "too gay. " That doesn't work well here. There's the unspoken agreement where the audience puts up with this faux-gay nonsense because there will be at least 1 kiss at some point -- for the entire series. This is what happens when they break the 1-kiss rule; faux-gay nonsense.
I just noticed that the listed name of the two male leads sounds similar: "Sota Ryosuke" and "Sato Yusuke." An amusing coincidence, but I managed to watch the whole series without noticing this.
That "death?" is a very legitimate warning. I'm still not sure if the death was real, a fever dream, or something like Groundhog Day. Otherwise, the ending looks like someone screwed up when editing the scenes together.
It is like they thought that having to deal with a death from afar, over the internet, was too difficult to explore. Really, it could have been easier to show than whatever the heck that was. Rather than lame special effects, they could have simply shown the protagonist packing up and moving out of the apartment.
An ending that looks like a mistake makes the entire story seem questionable.
I wish there had been more behind-the-scenes footage. At least then I might have been able to understand what went wrong. Actually, if they decided to release like an entire season's worth of behind-the-scenes footage then I would definitely watch that. In fact, I'd pay good money to see that... However, if they instead decided to destroy all of the original footage, I would totally understand. In reality, I have no confidence that the people in charge are even capable of doing either.
Other than that, I can only speculate that perhaps this series was just a big mistake, but no one wanted to be the first to admit this. That might begin to explain why everything was so awkward.
Umm, so Gawin's shirt at the beginning of Ep 3... I'm hoping it was as simple as someone not realizing what they…
Yup. That image is probably taken from the nazi war eagle emblem. Here's an article on the "Boy London" brand, https://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/10809250/Fashion-brands-logo-likened-to-Nazi-eagle-symbol.html . The current owners of the brand deny the nazi link, but here's what the original owner/founder of the brand, John Krivine , an Israel-based businessman, said in 1984: "I don't know what kind of eagle it was, Roman Legion, American Indian, Continental Congress, Third Reich, it looked cool." Yeah, sure... >.> ...
He founded Boy London in the 1970s selling crazy stuff, "... his original boutique in Chelsea, London, sold outrageous items including T-shirts with dried animal blood and jewellery made from hypodermic syringes, which were modelled by the original punks."
It was apparently part of some late 70s punk rebellion thing and one of his competitors, Malcolm McLaren, another Jewish punk entrepreneur, "... sold swastika T-shirts to trade on the symbol's shock value."
It was never mentioned, not even once, that Korn's power does anything other than allowing him to never sleep.…
In one episode, Korn jumps off a building and they even show his body, but then in another episode he is back like nothing happen. Some people are saying that he had super healing regenerative powers, but this was never mentioned. It was just a ridiculous plot hole that made me wonder if I had missed an entire episode.
It was never mentioned, not even once, that Korn's power does anything other than allowing him to never sleep. Given what happens to him, I can only surmise that his real power is that he is a gigantic plot hole.

Seriously. They were both Jewish. Like, wtf?...
