It was marketed as a "bittersweet romance". The first scene you mention appeared to be a "mystery". but once the…
Pardon me, whatever it is called I was only saying that objectively there have been hints and buildups from the start that the drama isn’t going to be a straightforward romcom.
Anyway, what I was definitely not saying ever is I am in any way concerned about whether others watch or drop it. Everyone is very much allowed to do whatever they want with it. Have a nice day/evening! :)
Friendly reminder for those who say the thriller part comes out of nowhere, literally the first scene in the first…
Like, I agree that the drama’s tonal shift from romcom to thriller is quite abrupt and disorienting but it’s not like there weren’t any buildups at all from the beginning..? Also while I really miss the sweet light fluffy funny bunny era too :” and I usually also dislike how K-drama romcoms tend to add ill-fitting, far-fetched crime/thriller subplots as filler, for once here it actually binds together the overall arc and is in line with the main theme of the drama which is to show all the ways toxic parenting, family environment and education system can ruin a child.
Another thing that I appreciate is while the scope of other similarly-themed dramas like Sky Castle is limited to the 1%, CCIR also attempts to show that the system has impacts on the working class as well and how it is so destructive that even healthy families like The Nams can be affected by the domino effects.
Yes, the drama is not perfect and some elements could’ve been executed better but it could’ve been much worse too—like, honestly, there are way worse things out there lol—plus the good parts (the perfect casting!! the high-class acting!! the organic chemistry!! the stomachache-inducing comedy!! the to-die-for family dynamics!! the beautiful friendships!! Sun-jae & Geon-hu’s flawless rivals-to-besties arc!!!) very much more than make up for it. Here’s praying that the final eps will wrap things up nicely and we can have a bit more of the happiness from the earlier eps before the last goodbye.
Anyway, is it really a K-drama romcom if it’s not a little silly, extra and illogical? :D
Friendly reminder for those who say the thriller part comes out of nowhere, literally the first scene in the first episode of the drama is a high school kid being chased after in a dark empty hallway and falling off a building in the middle of the night.
currently rewatching this drama to pick up extra clues.if you are not familiar with the subject matter and doubt…
every single part of this comment is perfection but lemme add just a little: *so PLEASE do some research before you judge AND scare away other people who just discovered the drama and are interested in trying it out (AND disturb those who happen to enjoy the drama and just want to have a good-natured, fun, constructive discussion) with your blind, unfounded judgements and accusations
that said, thank you for the hard work OP, this is Press Secretary Kim Nam-wook level of badassery, I wish I could like it 1000000000x ^^
Yes, very much so! The leads have such incredible chemistry that it even makes people wonder if the actors were just acting or really in love with each other lol, so.. if you're looking for romance, like others said you won't be disappointed ^^
lol i don't know what the female lead's character is meant to portray, she just seems to be wondering about in…
i know right i felt the same way too during the first episodes.. but please do hang on a little bit longer.. i swear it's worth it ^^ at some point she'd learn from her mistakes and become nothing like she was before. her character gets to grow beautifully alongside the male lead's and everything is so much better :D
