I mean I understand your point of view but instead of just finding it funny how he acts, they constantly ridicule…
I totally get you, it had so much potential the idea to include Jamaican culture in the script. It was very original and I was excited about it at first. Honestly, I liked the others story lines so while I was watching I also wanted to believe that it wasn't because of prejudice. I hated that feeling, it's so confusing to be so torn apart about one show because it seems like the main plot and this side characters are in two different dramas. It's crazy right
This drama gave me comfort when I needed some. It was just the kind of light, family-oriented drama I didn't think…
I mean I understand your point of view but instead of just finding it funny how he acts, they constantly ridicule everything related to Jamaican culture. They even show him as dirty because of his dreadlocks and his darker complexion. By the way, honestly was the blackface really necessary? It didn't add anything to his character, I mean -combined with his hair- the only goal was to perceive him as disgusting, smelly and dirty -*they even added bugs around him as if he was rotten or something*-. I just think that's not right, if he was shown as an actual admirer of Jamaican culture and the comedic relief was only focused on his personality/obsession it would've been a lot more respectful. What's your opinion about what I wrote? I'm really curious :)
I accidentally watched one scene from an episode I hadn't watched yet and I cried my eyes out. So I decided to spare myself the pain and stop watching while I was still happy, now I can pretend it ended where I stopped :) - Good luck everyone, this drama literally rips your heart out and steps on it.
