I'm probably watching Reply 1988 for the tenth time now. I have finished episode 18. Every time I watch the drama, I always root for Choi Taek. This time is no different, but I found myself getting emotional over Jung Hwan's unrequited love. Tears came down without me noticing. Perhaps I needed to grow up to understand his feelings. Ten years ago, I didn't appreciate his love. But this time it was different, even though I still find Choi Taek's love more exciting. The ending of episode 18 was all about Jung Hwan's love, so I rewound the video to watch the last part again. I am extremely grateful to everyone who worked on this drama for creating something so amazing for us. I am also very grateful to the translators. Without them, people abroad would not be able to enjoy this masterpiece.
I made an analysis and my conclusion is this when Director Shin Won Ho, Screenwriters Lee Woo Jung and Kim Song Hee come together, that drama becomes perfect. When they act separately, the dramas are good, but not that perfect.
Don’t get me wrong, I thought it was well done and can understand the hype. I was just trying to think of why…
It is probably what you expect from a drama. My favorite drama from my country is also a slice of life drama with lots of family stories and emotional moments. And I watched it when I was 13 years old and fell in love. When I looked at it, it was a serious drama and I am surprised at why I liked it at that age. Probably it was my personality. My brother always watches sci-fi, and he also makes connections between the events in our lives and the physic rules, too. It is about what you enjoy in life probably. But, you made me curious about movie preferences. I will look for explanations in the internet.
personally its resonated with me because i could see my mom in aesun character especially if u are asian
I am not Asian or have been in similar situation, but I can relate. When I watched Reply 1988, I was 10 years younger and experienced nothing regarding real life, but I could relate to it as well. I think such slice of life dramas is not about where you are from, your age, or your experiences. I am not sure, but maybe it is related to the perspective you view the life, understand it and live within it. My mister and my liberation notes also gives similar feelings. Again, I could relate to them despite I had no similar experiences and had no knowledge about real life.
2016? Back then people were saying 2016 is the golden year for Korean dramas. There were too many great dramas. It is exactly the year I started watching Kdrama. I remember saying people these dramas are new. Now, it is been almost 10 years and they are old dramas. I can't believe how time flies.
Amazing story writing by the writer and direction by the director, in one moment we cry and another minute we…
I agree wholeheartedly. I cried in so many scenes and would not do it for any other drama easily. In the past, Reply 1988 and My Mister had created similar emotions while watching. Interestingly, the leads are the same. But any drama with IU is always spectacular.
I almost did not start this drama because of the ratings. Normally, I only watch dramas with ratings above 8.4. But two of my favourites are in it, so I watched it. I am glad I did. I've rated it 9/10 for now.
I have noticed that the ratings of dramas are declining from year to year. The ratings of some hit dramas are now lower than the year they were released. This is the case for this drama, too. But I don't know why this happens.
I tried to watch this drama before, but I failed since the topic looked heavy. I want to try again. Is there a way I can like it now, since years passed and maybe I matured and can hande heavy topics? I need encouragement to try again.
CHAT!!! how are we supposed too wait 6 days now... im obsessed with this drama and its going so good so far, if…
Actually, I like ongoing dramas more. Of course, waiting is like a torture, but thanks to this drama, I have something I anticipate for 2 months now. I like the days it airs more than other days of the week, too.
she is the 2nd female lead not a support and this is a drama written by Kim Eunsook all Korean actors dream working…
I agree. 2nd leads (grim reaper and chicken place owner) were main leads before Goblin and continued to be main lead after it, too. Same is valid for Mr. Sunshine. Gu Dong Mae was a main lead before Mr. Sunshine and continued to be main lead after it, too. And as an audience, I am grateful that those actors agreed to be part of these dramas. They certainly made Goblin and Mr. Sunshine better and I never thought they were inferior to main leads while watching. As you say, they had their own stories.
And the last word: "If you can't, just back down. We're always here for you."
