First 8 ep, I am on board with the drama but also annoyed by the characters...
GNT should lay off a bit esp towards the FL... yes, he wants everything perfect and through the book and yes, he lost someone but he can't let his fear affect everyone else... I get that he should follow the procedure and ensure safety and efficiency but it's him trying to control CX is frustrating.
CX is great at proving that being a woman does not hinder her flight abilities but she's also great at proving that she is way too emotional... I mean, does she always have to lash out at people esp at GNT (her superior) and does she always have to go straight to resigning? She has seen and been told of how GNT tried to lessen her punishments but she just kept lashing out... For example, her calling the police. I get needing to get the problematic person off board but there are steps and she overstepped her authority... Just cuz she's a great pilot does not mean she can go over her superior's authority. She kept saying that GNT has something against her but I see it more as her having something against him... Yes, he overstepped his authority by telling her to not swim and do water sports but he hasn't stepped her authority by training her.... Is he tougher on her? Definitely, but I see also as him helping her be better so that she can prove herself to that sexist piece of _____ that she is a capable pilot. Maybe it's the writer but having CX be the only one always yelling at people is really not a good look. She is being discriminated against and getting a lot of setbacks but she went through her first school and training before. Was it smooth sailing the first time? Or did her temper tantrums helped her get her way? IDK if it's how Tan Song Yun is protraying CX cuz I see the same temper tantrums in her other dramas except one (The Sword and the Brocade) but she needs to lay off of the yelling and resigning.
The worse is the HR/Boss dude... sexist piece of ____ . Do they not have lawsuits at all? How is he and the company getting away with the treatment of CX or women? To demote her as a trainee and then an observer? To an experience pilot who almost became a Captain. Sure, give her extra training to know how Passenger flights are different but it shouldn't be a demotion.
Just realized while rewatching the show that her dad is a bit like Lou Yao. The first thing he did when returning…
I think Lou Yao is more like her third uncle.... Devoted to the wife. In fact, I think all three elder male Chengs are like her three marriage prospects... 2nd uncle is studious like Yuan and her dad is like LBY... a general also devoted to his wife who lets her rule.
It is. Usually I skip the politics and go for the romance but this drama is all about the politics. It's my favorite part. I didn't care about the romance here at all.
And this drama has some twists so it's really refreshing.
Don't turn away in the first 2 episodes like I did the first time I tried to watch because you'll be missing out. One of my favorite dramas.
Really great drama.... from the acting, to the sets, to the plot, and to the cinematography, everything is top notch. Becoming one of my favorite "historical" dramas along with The Story of Ming Lan and Joy of Life. Looking forward to the future episodes. Also, ZZY is doing great as the FL but ZYW as XQ is giving me life.... He is so charismatic without needing to do or say anything... He just needs to be on the screen and he just exudes charisma.. Really different from many Asian dramas now that just go for the looks (often pretty boy). Honestly saw him first on Our Glamorous Time as the FL's older brother but even then, his charisma was top level... I couldn't believe he was just a supporting character with how much presence he had on screen.
CDramas have overtaken kdramas in my heart in recent years..... I always look for Cdramas now...
Posting this again. She probably doesn't get that many scripts so she probably just chooses from what little script…
It's not that she's not getting scripts. She has said it herself that it is difficult for her to choose. She's stated before that she let go of good dramas because of other obligations and her early success made it hard for her to just choose a drama. Also, it was only until recently that she had multiple dramas claiming to had offered her the lead but she ultimately declines. As for why there are not a lot of news about dramas trying to cast her, it's probably her preference. She doesn't often confirm until it is almost shooting time. She's more private now and less about the limelight.
Depends on person to person,I guess. For me,this was the only show where I could believe in her being a boy-YEH…
Yoon Eun Hye definitely played her character well. What people failed to realize is that Go Eun Chan did not purposely fool everyone with her gender initially. She was a tomboy. Her voice was hoarse. Her hair was short. And she wore comfortable and big clothes. All of these were just parts of her. Others just kept mistaking her as a boy because of how she dresses and acts. You can see it in the first episode where she says she's a girl when she went to the sauna but it was the women who wouldn't believe her. She was taken back in the first few episodes when HanKyul kept mistaking her as a boy. She even gave him her ID number but he "corrected" her thinking she's a boy. She just went with what he believed because that's how she often did with other people? Why? Because she is the breadwinner in her family. It only became a gender bender when she decided to work as a male in the cafe because before that, she was just a tomboy. Comparing this gender bender to others is not fair because she did not change the way she acted when it became a gender bender and she did not initially pretend to be a boy. A lot of other gender bender dramas often had the female lead change their voices and their gestures but Eun Chan was always more masculine than feminine.

The characters have soooo much growing to do.....
