I loved the scene when they enter the banquet and how within a couple of seconds they use each other to evade the unwanted attention received from women for Pei Weixuan and from men for Li Rong. They dodge left and right. The way they cooperate is flawless.

I loved that as well... how it slowly dawns on them. And they don't pretend.

There's a level of pettiness and childishness one has to appreciate. The thing is... they've lived with each other for so long, and they know the best and the worst about the other person, so what need is there to hide anything by that point?

You've got to dodge those pesky spoilers 🤣. I am not scared of them though and they won't spoil much for me. I read the novel last week. 😅 I like to do that whenever I get the chance, because I am interested in adaptations and I like to see how different arcs get rendered, reduced, expanded or glossed over.

A1... the bickering OMG. But they also complete each other and each other's lines / thoughts / plans / schemes sometimes. Being married for decades... first close to each other and then as frenemies and/or allies / partners (in plotting) will do that. I like how well they know the other's mind and how they think. it also shows they're on equal footing as strategists. And the scene when they realize they've both returned to life during their game of chess... was masterfully done. It dawns on both of them simultaneously as they exchange chess moves and they notice the way they played the game at different ages during their marriage.
