π₯² bittersweet really. I mean one of the MLs is already a ghost.
after the mystery of both the husband's death and of the corruption case is solved, the ghost moves on... heads to his next life, so the police officer lives on and keeps in touch with the family of his "husband"
You feel sad for a coward who put himself first and killed his wife who he promised to protect forever?! I hope…
Obviously this was one of the significant changes in the plot (novel vs drama): in the novel the princess goes to Xue Li and tells her it's as easy as killing an ant to get rid of her (she had already pressured the Shen mother and sister to frame her and ruin her reputation) and now she orders her servant to hang Xue Li and make it look like she committed suicide. In the novel Shen Yurong was complicit and willing and felt no regret at that point or in the immediate aftermath. But the novel contains a transmigration plot that might have been considered problematic by the censors. If the soul does not transmigrate, then Xue has to be kept alive. Given all the regrets Shen Yurong is experiencing in the drama, it feels a bit like burying her alive was intentional, so as to give Xue Li a chance at survival.
same here, even though I read the novel. They really did a good job with the adaptation. Even novel readers are on the edge of their seats. There are enough changes to keep us guessing, but we do have an inkling of what comes next. Also, the changes don't bother me so far, because they make sense for censorship reasons. But the overall plot is still moving in the right direction.
