Nanny Rong's acting was really a bit too much, too much caricature.
right? It even downgraded the tone and made all the scenes look “cheaper,” at least for me. I know some people enjoyed her performance. Anyway, I’m glad that we won’t see he anymore.
FL hostility toward the ML at this point doesn't make much sense. In the beginning, yes. But now? This is an the…
I agree that it's annoying, but I can see her reasoning. He is very powerful and has a reputation as a playboy; he lives almost in a brothel, so getting too close to him could be problematic. He is hot, for sure, so that is probably why she couldn’t resist and kissed him, but she is trying to keep her distance.
I love seeing cocky and shameless men on the screen, but in real life I want to punch them and avoid them as much as possible so that I can understand her :)
The first couple of episodes have been intriguing. Then I pushed to the 10th, and it’s extremely boring; literally nothing happened. Should I push forward? Bc I’m about to drop it.
I don't mind older women paired with younger guys...even if they look more mature. Who says the guy should be…
To each their own. I can’t imagine being with a guy decades younger than me, even 5 years younger. So don’t find it romantic or enjoy this dynamic🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️. I also don't like this actress or her vibe. She gives a motherly vibe, not a romantic love interest. I love all other CL pairings; this one is an exception.
omg! I don’t remember a character who suffered more than Nan Heng. I’m on the 26th episode, and everyone is so unfair to him. FL is so unfair as well. She doesn’t deserve him. I tried my best to understand and respect her point of view and reasoning, but she has gone too far.
Lol she is 4 years older than him. You want him paired with a minor?
People have different opinions and different points of view, and I think it’s normal. I don’t see harmony in this pairing. I don’t have any issues with the other actresses who worked with Cheng Lei, but I think here is a miscast. In Legend of the Female General, Zhou Ye looks youthful but capable as a warrior and general, and they look amazing as a couple together.
I feel sorry for the actors bc they are amazing, and I love both Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan dearly.
Unfortunately, the cinematography, lighting, and editing are very poor. I feel claustrophobic watching it.
Usually, cinematography moves from wide shots to mid shots, then to close-ups and details. Here they are stuck in the middle plans and close-ups.
Lighting is too even and bright for most scenes, giving a cheap daytime TV and theatrical effect. The temperature of the light is also off. While scones on the walls and other sources of “natural” lighting are very warm, scenes were illuminated with much brighter and and cooler lighting. In summary, it gives a very unnatural and unbelievable setting even with decent acting.
I don’t see any issues with it being a republican era drama. I just watched Footprints of Change; the first story was in the republican era as well, and there were no issues; it was decently filmed.
I think Overdo had enormous potential but unfortunately was chosen as the wrong director for the project, who chose the wrong team. I hope this drama won’t affect the careers of ZLH and WCR; they are very talented and deserve top projects.
I'm generally surprised, bc there are dozens of full-length dramas streamed monthly, and most of them have no production issues and are very decently/profeccionally produced even with smaller budgets.

2. Are there only two options?
