I can’t believe I let the internet convince me this was a bad show. Began watching it without expectations and was so surprised with how intriguing the plot was. Definitely very story-heavy, and not as much smut as I expected considering I kept reading comments on how they focused on sex too much (which I disagree with—there was an average of 1 sex scene per episode but it wasn’t overdone and the intimacy coordinators did crazy good. They feel super realistic.)
If you are gonna watch it, I’d recommend watching it in one go. Every little detail is important for the story and it’s so packed, it can get a little convoluted. Still, this was a great watch! Give it a try!
Generic, simple and fluffy, but still very lovely. Loved the couples despite the lack of emotional depth (typical of GMMTV anyways) and will miss them dearly. Gun and Faifa especially will always hold a place in my heart! The cutest!
I was reluctant to watch this since I had heard so many reviews about how sad it was, that I assumed it was all going to be tragic. But it’s not. It’s a story of a lifetime, and it focuses not only on Ae-sun and Gwang-swik, but also on everyone else around them.
I’m so heartbroken with Beomseok’s story. He didn’t even get to properly apologize and, apparently he won’t even appear in season 2? He just left? Just like that? Painful.
I just finished “Mood Indigo” and was planning on rewatching “The Novelist” (since I watched it years…
Omg don’t tell me this 😭😭 I watched it years ago and remember it being lackluster but I was hoping I was maybe too picky at the time. I’ll give it a try next week.
I just completed this. I took someone’s advice and watched it before ‘The Novelist’. This feels more like…
I just finished “Mood Indigo” and was planning on rewatching “The Novelist” (since I watched it years ago and didn’t give it the attention it deserved) but I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get to it. Watching this has left me feeling so empty, I don’t think I can ship Kajima with anyone else…
I’ve always felt pretty neutral to J-BLs until I watched this. I liked it so much I rewatched it within 24 hours. The rating doesn’t do it justice, this is your sign to watch it.
My fave character was the Scorpion King. His devotion to Zhao Jing was so palpable, I could never look away when he was on screen. I know they were essentially family but they had so much chemistry, I find it hard to believe it wasn’t unrequited love.
This is definitely one of my top comfort shows now. Despite having the whole “mafia” aspect of it, it’s a pretty lighthearted romantic comedy. It didn’t feel draggy once and even the evil characters were pretty tolerable. 9.5/10, only wished we had a bit more angst/passion in the romance (although that’s 100% just a personal preference of mine).
I saw the puritanical comments and knew this was probably going to be okay. So far, I like it. It's original,…
Agreed! I dropped it the first time around because I was convinced it was going to end up being too abusive but I was pleasently surprised. This is a must watch for anyone who likes the pet/master dynamic or just morally gray characters in general.

If you liked LITA, this show’s for you. The dynamics are practically the same, though the kiss scenes are a bit deficient. Still a good watch!
But it’s not. It’s a story of a lifetime, and it focuses not only on Ae-sun and Gwang-swik, but also on everyone else around them.
This is truly a masterpiece. Please watch.
