I see where you are coming from, and i agree. Ji chang is not a bad actor. He did good roles. But for me, his previous few works are just disappointing. And as i said , i am not against any kind of characters. If its suit the story , its perfect. His recent dramas are weak when it comes to story, character development etc.
To understand his characters, at least i am going to need more from the stories. I am more annoyed with his selections . I don't know but i seriously cant see the difference. Yup just one - They all bored me . Here you can take one more example. Jung Hae In work in most of the dramas are same. His dramas are melo and have one set of template - which i don't mind. See let me say this again - I don't dislike him. He got potential and everything.
Now, if I talk about his selections of roles. Ji chang in Melting me softly, Backstreet Rookie, and now this one - They all pushover, obsessed over something, soft, cant form their mind, dorks, etc.
These characters are all in one shade. I don't see any differences. Let me clear this, I have nothing against this type of characters. If it serves the story, it's good.
But for an actor who did a similar vibe role in the previous two dramas back to back, doing the same thing with the same reactions and nothing to add, This makes it extremely boring.
And here I going to include the story too. For a moment if I think his character is not that bad, the story is too slow. The combination is a disaster for the actor.
And since the character got nothing new, it makes one of the most uninteresting parts to continue the drama.
This drama is one of those i feel like even i drop it , this won't affect me. I completed three or four episodes. And to be honest, i tried my best to not judge or make any kind of opinion. The approach and everything were nice but the problem is the story and characters. Especially the leads, and more specifically Ji chang wook.
See i am not hating him , but i tried this one because i really liked him for a long time. But his character is AGAIN similar. Like how many times you are going to play same kind of roles??

Now, i need something really like extremely strong reason to watch his next work. He bored the hell out of me. And its really painful to say because i loved this actor and still do as a person. But his acting and choice in the drama are getting worse.
About the story, there is nothing to dislike but there is nothing to like or hold either. This is just a mediocre story with a realistic touch.

So you need to make sure that your character and story are unique. It doesn't matter what approach you choose.

i had to drop this one for two solid reasons. First i cant see Kim Seon Ho doing second lead anymore ( ah i know weird reason but i love this guy)
second, because of Suzy. She is really beautiful and i respect her but I don't like her as an actress!
Like you said, her face and eyes are totally blank. She don't really show any emotions. And its just too repeating for me! I dropped while you were sleeping because nope, its just too boring to see her on-screen.
No disrespect to the actress, but i really hope to see her in better roles with much more homework on her characters!

I don't know if i am late or not, but i actually completed this drama long ago. And the main leads will get more on your nerves until the verrrry end! Second leads are just wow for me. If i didn't had this stupid rule of not drop any drama because i started , i should have never completed this one.
