Thank you so much for writing this article so more people might know how delightful it is! I'm only on ep 13 but so far it's been nothing but an extremely watchable drama with plenty of intrigue and fun character interactions to keep you wanting more. I love that the main cast genuinely like each other, and you even get to see a loving adult relationship with Jing Yi's parents -a husband and wife in a sociopolitical drama being playful and adoring together? Such a nice surprise :)
I'm continually impressed with the complexity this low budget, seemingly surface level series throws at us, from the layers of political conspiracy to interpersonal relationships, to the way it skillfully blends the comedic elements and plays with ubiquitous romantic tropes. It's just so much FUN <3
I'm curious to see if this Love 020/King's Avatar type can stand out from the crowd by merging the real and game worlds instead of just spending all your time in one or the other. The graphics and gameplay appear outdated but the story could still be fun :) Glad to see this is finally airing!
Once again pleasantly surprised by the way serious topics are approached sincerely in this ridiculously over the top show. The end of ep 3 added unexpected depth to the children's host character, and made his insistence on using the 'right' colour for the sky instead of the one that made the child happiest really stand out - even in the 'colourful world' of the kids show where diversity is allowed he still thought it important to conform to societal expectations, because he can't break from them himself. I really like how this series balances acting that chews the scenery right off and earnestly discussing things that are meaningful and real - plus it's just fun watching Kiriyama Renn go ham in knee high boots for half an hour ;-)
Vincenzo is delightful! The lead is so deliciously competent (and gorgeous, hnnnggg) and the humour really makes it stand out from the crowd. I haven't watched any of the others but WBL has been on my to watch list :)
My favourites so far this year: Ojisama to Neko Word of Honour Seiten wo Tsuke Horimiya
Comforting fluff and historical dramas make me happy <3
