Not So in Love With This Drama
There are two big reasons this drama didn’t land for me: the makjang and the revenge.
As a makjang, it’s surprisingly tame. It lacks the full-throttle chaos and drama that make the genre so fun and addictive. Instead of leaning into the outrageousness, it plays it safe—which kind of defeats the point.
And as a revenge drama? It really isn’t satisfying with an S. The payoff doesn’t hit hard enough, and the buildup just doesn’t keep you on the edge of your seat the way great revenge arcs should.
The acting also didn’t help much. The younger cast felt a bit flat, and it was honestly the male veterans—Jeong Noh Min and Lee Byung Joon—who carried the weight of the show. Their presence gave some much-needed grounding and gravitas.
Overall, it’s not unwatchable, but it left me feeling underwhelmed. Not dramatic enough to be a good makjang, and not sharp enough to be a great revenge tale.
