Okay, after reading the comments, I am going to stop watching. I am basically enjoying the light heartedness, but her brother is annoying, the whole randomly kissing/getting kissed is tiring, and the gender change is frustrating, and now finding out that the FL is in a car accident in the end and no season 2 yet even though it's been over a year. So frustrating cause the ML is such a cutie.
UPDATE: went back and finished it because I wanted to finish their love story. The ending really sucked. Totally missed the tag for tragedy. There were no cars at all and out of the blue, a car shows up? Also, it looked like Hathaway's car. I will totally read the tags next time.
I was disappointed that there was no real acknowledgement and/or apology from Xiao Lu for her "fair competition". It always bothers me when they cannot acknowledge their wrong doing.
It took Tien Fei a long time to really understand his fault in the matter. I hate how he seemed clueless to XL's affections at first, but after clearly understanding how she felt and her plans to compete for him fairly (I am not sure what's fair about pursuing someone already in a relationship.), he didn't put her out. I knew that he was low key enjoying the attention. I wanted to like him, but he was a b*astard. He slept with XL in their private bedroom. SMH. Did anyone else notice the only bed scenes shown were the cheating ones. There were none shown btwn Lan and Tian Fei...wonder if it was on purpose.
I also did like how there was no realistic reaction to finding out she knowingly lied about the pregnancy. There should have been some separation time or something. XL should have been working to help contribute to the household. I am mad that TF and XL got a happy ending. Oh and his mother was too much!!
Both female actresses were beautiful. Cheating stories like this and in The Golden Age of the Leftover Ladies get me deep in my emotions.
Hi! I am a bit late to the party, but I love your review and agree with it. I would add also that many viewers forget that BSJ has NO emotional IQ, no experience with girls, was dressed as a girl when younger and then harrassed for it. He's good at literally everything except having heart and loving freely. This is where OHN shone. In the world of emotional IQ, she was the genius. I think as a society (I'm a 49 yo married mother of 3 sons from the USA) we assume the boy has more experience or should know better. He was as innocent as OHN. He didn't know what to do with those emotions and he certainly didn't want to yield to his slightly overbearing mother. (I see that in my sons as they entered their teens. They're trying to figure it out.) On another site, someone pointed out that BSJ NEVER said no to OHN, but did you all realize he was the first to say saranghe - I love you? OHN loved him unashamedly and fully. He needed it. He used her love to push her to strive for better. This was my second Kdrama and it is my favorite. Reading BSJ's Diary which gives insight to his thoughts and watching the 7 YouTube episodes only made it that much more special.
A final note, the original manga was written in the 90s and this show aired in the 10 years ago. It is hard for people to watch in the 21st century, me, too movement. Thank you for your insight.
I had a real problem with the romance too. I actually stopped watching it and read the episode summaries because I felt there was too much deception. Although, the story of the ghost was super sad. I cried over that, especially the scene where the father and brother find her body and realize she's dead. The bad guy really played his part.
