I didn't expect to dislike this show. I saw the good ratings and I thought it would be interesting, but personally I didn't like it. The story begins very strongly with both leads dying and then everything resets 5 years before they die. There is no explanation given to this and it is not explained later. It just happened and it is forgotten by the story later. However despite this, the overall plot is just unbelievable... The main villain should have been dealt with before the events of the series if Lene actually did have a strong moral code like her father says at some point instead of letting the villain do whatever they want with the company, basically killing and trafficking people. Lene literally let all those years this person kill people including her mother because just why? She should have thrown him to jail instead of all this happening. She literally had a bodyguard if she was so scared for her life to act out. She had proof of the crimes so why she didn't do anything all these years and needed Rann to wake her up and deal with the villain once and for all. I honestly didn't like the main characters much, especially Lene and her terrible behaviour towards Rann before the romance develops, and I didn't care much for the secondary characters. The actors and actresses did a really good job with the script provided, but the writing felt just tropey and didn't go deep with its characters, especially with a heavy and dark drama like this. The chemistry between the two leads was also lacking imo.

The cinematography was nice. The leads and secondary couple as well as the rest of the cast did their best with the plot that was handed to them. I saw in the summary that the series is adapted from novel and I can see that. I haven't read the novel mind you, but gl thai novels are a bit much if not tweaked. I liked the plot because it seemed like a realistic Queendom until the point Charm's ex drugged Charm and kissed. Ping got angry that Charm cheated on her, because it seems Ping doesn't trust her girlfriend much and Ping ended up pursuing a relationship with the guy her mother chose until the big revelation that Charm got actually drugged and she didn't cheat on Ping with Mint, her ex.... I lost interest from that point because of course Charm didn't cheat she was drugged she said so, but Ping didn't believe her... ughh

The only good thing was the chemistry between the leads. The story began interesting but after epsiode 17 it got terrible. I just couldn't take the plot seriously anymore when Ran's mom appeared in the company's meeting again, because a few episodes ago the fake DNA tests were shown to the company's board. Who trusts a person like that afterwards??

That was actually very good! I tried to watch it a month ago but couldn't get into it, but I tried again today and watched it all from start to finish. This is a really good mystery and very dark story. Generational trauma included too. The GL moments were great, but there wasn't a kiss but the girls got married oh well. I also enjoyed The Vampires by the same director.

For real. I am mainly a GL watcher and there is a GL with fictional royals "The Loyal Pin" with FreenBecky and the show was actually supported by the Ministry of Commerce. So its generally fine.

I love this so much. Its so real. The actors are really good. I was focused the whole time. The husband is quite nice, too bad this happened to him, but if only Li-Ming didn't hate herself because internalised homophobia.

Finally something original. Its dark gl series with good character development. For fans of Clairebell (like myself), Shades is definitely worth watching! Each episode explores a character further. There is going to be a season 2, too.

I feel the same. I finished it today and as much as I enjoyed other GLs, Clairebell blew me away with how perfect it is. Its peak cinema. I literally find nothing to criticise in it. It raised my standards at sky high level.

Is there life after Clairebell? It's GL perfection. I have watched so many GLs till now and this series raised my standards sky-high. The cinematography, the actors, The music, the writing. I couldn't find something I disliked in it. I don't know what to do.
