If you asked me to recommend a series with a serious topic but has a happy and cheerful ending I would 100% recommend The Eclipse. Everything from the acting, to the production, to the storyline is immaculate. The series portrays the struggles of trying to accept who you are while trying to please others at the same time in quite a closed-minded society. Although the concept was quiet dark and upsetting the series still manages to squeeze in multiple humorous jokes, and shows the playful sides of the younger characters. I'm sure many of us can agree this show deserves a 10/10.
