i completely get where you're coming from. i mean the reason why i love utskushii kare is because of how well the thought process of each character is portrayed. but i may disagree with you on the abundance of the kissing scenes part. and i most definitely won't call them "unnecessary". Hira's physical intimacy with kiyoui is unique in its own way and needs to be shown. Also its not "too many" at all in my opinion. apart from the neck and hand kisses (which is extremely important to show hira's way of showing his worship-idolizing thing) they only had one proper kissing scene and its honestly too little since the movie is categorized as a bl movie, thus the physical and non physical intimacy and chemistry between the leads is as important as the plot.
i totally agree with you that the movie is lacking the enough backstory and kyoyi pov. but it doesn't mean that they should replace the kissing scenes with it or subtract the physical component . simply they should've added the backstory.
