Xie Zheng leaned against a wooden pillar, the knife at his throat, yet his expression remained unchanged. Only when he heard Fan Changyu’s words did he raise his eyes, his expression unusually serious. “Rather than having poor judgment and finding another ingrate in the future, you might as well be with me.”
it's literally happening in the new episodes tomorrow...
first of all, I'm not new to c-drama and this is based of a novel I finished reading three months ago so my memory is fresh, and it's super long. 40 episodes are not much, yet the director chose to be faithful to the novel, so I trust him with the pacing.
Of course your opinion is yours and mine is mine, but in my opinion this pace is great.
ive never really watched any historical drama before (except for alchemy of souls, if that counts)will this be…
Alchemy of Souls is one of my favorite k-drama's!
If you don't mind war, politics and slow-burn you will love this. But if you have problem with any of these categories, I'd say try something less complicated because if you never seen this type of cdrama it can be overwhelming.
Have you seen Love between fairy and devil? It's also fantasy :)
It's a draggity filler fest, kinda ruining the otherwise great shots. Episodes are short too. There was no need…
Those scenes are not fillers... the most important characters have been introduced and the romance between XZ and FC is more believable this way. We can see how the fell for each other.
Yeah... now the light mood is going to change 🫣

Both Changyu and Xie Zheng are so well written, and I love to see them slowly fall for each other... It's actually believable unlike other c-dramas.
We can't all agree with everything unfortunately 🤷🏻♀️

The truest slow-burn I had even seen was Story of Kunning Palace where they got together at the very end.
Same! I wouldn't change the pacing at all.

And I totally agree with you. There are so many chapters that are just politics and on screen it takes less time to show it than reading it.
