one of the differences I've noticed in the trailer was that they made it more rom-com? especially the kiss at the end of the trailer. Xie Zheng would never do that in the novel because he was actually holding himself back.

Definitely Story of Kunning Palace, but the character is different in a lots of ways. Expect him to be very dark, and possessive. However, we don't know how much they changed his character in the drama. Maybe they did just a little bit or not at all. We have to wait and see :)

that's a very hard question to answer because they could've cut a lot of scenes out since the novel is 164+ chapters long. But I'd dare to guess maybe around the episode 30? That would be the biggest angst. In the novel it's the chapter 104.
