the way mouse aired 4 years ago and the comments here are still somewhat fresh... hands down the best thriller kdrams! it was made possible throggh seunggi's insane portrayel of jung bareum.
I already know the spoiler of the ending but nothing else apart from that major spoiler.....so idk if i should…
i learned of the big spoiler before i watched mouse, but there were more twists within twists and i was in awe with how everything was executed. the reason i watched this drama was because of seunggi; i knew he was a great actor, but damn his performance in mouse was top-notch. that made me love him even more and led me to binge watch all his dramas and variety shows (yes, all episodes of mith and 2d1n s1) i also watched busted because of him—his role there was basically foreshadowing mouse. until now, mouse remains my #1 drama.
if anybody is planning to watch this and is looking for validation ..... PLEASE DON'T WATCH!! please watch penthouse…
lmao what are you on about? the stories are completely different. although sky castle is also a makjang, it's closer to reality than penthouse will ever be. the drama shows how the social issues tackled can greatly destroy a person's psychological well-being. it's darker and way more complex, and definitely has more depth than penthouse. it also has less plotholes, and the characters' behaviors have room for redemption. meanwhile, penthouse is just over-the-top, exaggerated, unrealistic, and most characters are unbearable. their backstory cannot even justify their evil deeds. to think that this went for 3 seasons is insane.
edit: mind you, sky castle is a cable tv drama and it's rating reached 23.779%. that's huge for cable tv.
ML is caged up in his world because he is an outcast in a place filled with people who can hear and communicate easily. It is not going to be easy for him to open up. Although FL is giving her all to connect with him and make him feel that he's not alone, it's still going to take time for him to heal and move forward. FL knows that which is why she never gives up. She's not obsessed; she's just warm-hearted and full of understanding. If they made the FL hearing impaired, ML will most likely stay buried in his little box accepting that what he is now is all that he could ever be—and he will be contented with just that. He will also only rely on communication between people who are similar to each other, which will then make him uninterested in communicating to other people because he feels like they cannot relate to him. The purpose of this drama is for him to slowly blossom; for him to realize that he can be a part of the big world despite being different, for him to take small steps forward; for him to to learn when he finds himself going backwards; for him to gain the courage to try again; and for everyone around him to witness his growth. This drama may not go the way we want it to, but in the end we get to understand them, relate to them, and dive in their minds—how they mature. Plus, this is a slowburn drama, so of course we should expect angst and frustration somehow, but there will also be healing and reconciliation.
I just keep coming back to this drama every time i crave for thriller/crime series. Sure, I understand why people would think it's a boring series—I was the same as I watched the beginning, but I'm so glad I stuck with it because it does get better. If you dropped it, try giving it a chance before criticizing this masterpiece. I already knew the big plot twist before watching mouse, but just when I thought it all ends there, it really doesn't. The development, the acting, the thrill, it's all so damn good. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. So yeah, give the earlier episodes a chance and once you do, it will get better and better. Lee Seunggi did so great here, he needs to be casted in more thriller series. This is currently my number 1 drama.
ireah, i've been rooting for you ever since i watched peak time. please do support him and heejae so they can get known🥺 they have really strong soothing vocals!
