Nah this was FIRE. It starts off with woojin and gunwoo fighting off 30 thugs with hyeonju joining the fight later on. Mr choi finds out he’s like “we gotta put an end to this”. Now using 2 of the 5 knifers he had left (men who used to do the bloody and gory work for him back when he had his loan shark company, but myeongil got 3 of his knifers killed to ensure he didn’t get targetted by Mr choi’s knifers after, and they were PRO, no ELITE LEVEL KNIFE HANDLERS) he got him to chase down myeongil and tail him and start off a plan to take him down. Whilst doing so, gunwoo’s mum was gonna get taken to Mr choi’s orphanage for the sake of her safety since now they know who her son is, and gunwoo, his mum, hyeonju and woojin were having dinner together and it was so cute since hyeonju was feeling so cutesly uncomfortable but not in a bad way since she never received a type of love a mother gives especially when gunwoo’s mother takes care of her when hyeonju has dinner with gunwoo’s mum. After Mr choi lets the trio (gunwoo, woojin and hyeonju) transfer his money from the bookshop to his home, since it was too risky but inbeom and jangdo were already there so they had to fight them off first and now myeongil also ordered thugs to their location but the trio was able to get to their cars and drive off but woojin and hyeonju were in a separate car since the money was too much and they couldn’t shake the thugs off so woojin and hyeonju had to run to gunwoo’s car but since they had me choi’s gold on them it weighed them down and that’s when the ep ended.

YO IK WHY MR CHOI DOESNT RATE MYEONGIL AND INBEOM because myeongil used to work for mr choi until Mr choi announced that he was closing his loan shark company which got myeongil angered innit so myoengil and inbeom rob Mr choi but the security guard inmuk who’s Mr choi’s chauffeur now, reported it to Mr choi and Mr choi came and tried stopping them but myeongil pulled out a knife so Mr choi was at a disadvantage BUT he was about to win the fight until inbeom grabbed Mr choi and through him out the window which is how his leg got damaged BUT not before Mr choi CARVED the scar onMYEONGIL’S LEFT CHEEK. AND HYEONJU’S STORY SO SAD SHE HAD SPINAL CANCER AT 8 AND WHEN SHE RECOVERED HER DAD DIED WHEN SHE WAS 10 and after she was sent to an orphanage but she hated it so she ran away only to jump from job to job and she couldn’t handle it so she went back to her old orphanage but after at 17, she got moved to another orphanage, and Mr choi owned and he really cared for her especially BUT TELL ME WHY HYEONJU THOUGHT MR CHOI WAS A PEDO AT FIRST IT MADE ME GIGGLE SM and now woojin’s auntie’s restaurant THEIR FAVOURITE STIR FRY RESTURANT got damaged and destroyed by the debt collectors because they got affected by yang jae myeong’s scheme by collecting money from loan sharks using homeless peoples’ IDs and now the loan sharks are desperate to make up the money they lost from jaemyeong’s scheme so they attacked the debtors including woojin’s auntie and her resturant. Now they chasing jaemyeong but theyv’e clocked that they’re being tailed so now towards the end a big group of thugs from smile capital surround woojin and gunwoo when they tailed jaemyeong. AND MYEONGIL GOT REVENGE ON MINBEOM BY GETTING HIM STRIPPED ON CAMERA LIKE GOSH.

Min beom, a chaebol who needed 100m won for a new hotel was supposed to get it myeongil but instead embarrasses him whilst drunk and warns him that if he tries anything he’s dead so now myeongil wants to get revenge on him. Gunwoo and woojin get a job to be security for hyeonju and Mr choi tae Ho pays gunwoo’s debt off with smile capital by giving him 2 years worth of advance and now they're now finding this guy named yang jae myeong who scammed Mr choi 10m won or smth idk I forgot and now hyeonju found him again after half a year and found him faking to be homeless and stealing homeless people’s IDs so that they can open paper company (companies that are only real on paper, not active) and taking out loans from loan sharks using these paper companies and handing the loans back to smile capital. So now gunwoo and woojin were seeing jaemyeong and his buddies beating up an elderly homeless person who’s ID they stole and it got hectic with the elderly man’s head starting to bleed for jaemyeong and his buddies beating him up and that’s when gunwoo stepped in even though hyeonju specifically told him not to step in. ITS GOOD, but like I don't know if i’d rewatch it, so far it seems a tad bit overrated like its not getting any dramatic emotions out of me unlike the last kdrama I watched, youth of may.

WOAH. GREAT. MYEONGIL IS THE BAD BOY he starts off seeming like a great, kind, innocent loaner but he lends 100m won to some big hotel company heir so he can build a hotel, and his only conditions was that he adds a casino and bar and a place for people to quarantine in the future if another crisis like covid occurs. But basically myeongil exploits small business owners by giving them a loan and paying all their debt, only to come back the next day and say you didn't pay “this, this, this and this” fee so now your interest has gone up. Myeongil, the CEO of smile capital his loan shark company, bribes people like assemblyma park (some big mp) so that the police would turn a blind eye to what he was doing LIKE U EXPLOITING OLD ELDERLEY PEOPLE LIKE WHAT. BUT MYEONGIL MAKES THE MISTAKE OF EXPLOITING A MOTHER OF A PROFFESIONAL BOXER, GUNWOO so he finds out, comes to his mothers cafe where the loan sharks and myeongil are pressuring her about the debt and THEY DESTORYED HER CAFE AS WELL LIKE I FELT BAD WATCHING THAT but gunwoo saves the day only to be stopped by myeongil’s big man, beom who beats him up, but since he had grit and still didn't give up the fight, myeongil wanted to recruit him, only for gunwoo to spit at his face, which make myeongil carve a deep wound into gunwoo’s face. BUT GUNWOO SO CUTE AND BADDIE at the start of the ep he beats woojin a successful boxer and ex marine and they start to become besties and they so cute like their friendship makes me jealous.

HEETAE’S DAD ORDERS HIS MEN TO KILL MYUNGHEE AND HER BROTHER DUE TO HIS POSITION BEING UNDER INVESTIGATION because his son was arrested for saving seokchul in the past, a pro-democratic activist and so some other military superior takes over his position instead and out of anger he orders myunghee and her brother to be killed only for Jungtae to overhear and so later he rushes off to warn myunghee and jungtae’s , other is n the house waiting for heetae”a dad and she gives the divorce papers to him and then he’s like “u can’t take jungtae away from me” since jungtae’s mum bought up that she would take full custody of jumgtae and so she says why don’t you let jungtae decide and so she calls jungtae but he doesn't respond because he’s gone to save myunghee, and then heetae’s dad clocks and then jungtae’s parents rush to save him only for his men to accidently shoot jungtae instead and so after whilst myungsoo was all alone, he decides to go walk to naju so that his mum and grandma could his father be buried instead of cremated and do the funeral stuff since if he didn't contact anyone, his father would be cremated no matter what to make space for other coffins to be in the church, so he goes and myunghee goes after him with heetae after she finds out myungsoo has disappeared, heetae and myunghee separate to find myungsoo more quickly since there was a part in the road, myunghee finds myungsoo and tells him to run but the soldiers find them as well and when they were about to shoot myungsoo, myunghee comes into the line of fire and she dies. Heetae on the other hand is saved by Jina’s brother who was a solider and arrests him os that he wasn’t killed by other soilders. 41 years later her body is found and heetae went through all the pain and suffering of just thinking he was the reason why she died, so he waited for her for 41 years and even tried to commit suicde but the tide pushed him back, and seokchul is ALIVE AND THIS DRAMA WAS TRAUMATIC ONE OH MY DAYS WOAH BUT REALLY GOOD 10/10

Myunghee’s dad tries to get his son and myunghee to go naju but he fails and so only his son and himself go on to return to naju only to be spotted by soilders and then HE LEAVES MYUNGSOO AND IT WAS SO SAD and heetae’s father finds out abt heetae being in Gwangju instead of Seoul so he kidnaps his son (the car accident last ep) and traps him in his home, and eventually jungtae’s mum comes into the room, feeds him water, and then heetae asks jungtae’s mum to call the hospital and tell myunghee he’s okay but she said she couldn’t do it since she’s powerless in the house, and he then asked for jungtae and her to escape their home and that she should know that heetae never resented jungtae’s mum which emotionally moves jungtae’s mum and then she frees him and he goes to myunghee and they both escape to myunghee’s local church where they both temporarily stay and they start talking in their room to which myunghee brings up the idea of marriage to which heetae says yes.

ITS SO SAD STOP WDYM SOUTH KOREA’S OWN SOLDIERS ARE SHOOTING, GUN-SHOOTING AT CIVILIANS, NO MORE BATONS, IT’S GUNS INSTEAD. Myungsoo and jungtae decide to go to the comic book store by escaping their training camp since it was their teammate/friend’s birthday but the store was raided by soldiers who wanted to find “rebels” (beat up anyone they could find) but they were lucky to escape but they got in the middle of an anti-martial law protest when the soldiers thats were on stand by in case the protest went overboard started shooting, and so jungtae and Myungsoo started running away and whilst doing so Myungsoo tripped and hurt his ankle, when jungtae went to pick him up, he saw his dad since he was the anti-communist head for the military, which was jungtae clocked that these soliders were south korea’s not north korea’s and he realised his father was a criminal, and myunghee found out myungsoo escaped and so rushed with the ambulance with heetae and two other doctors to the shooting scene where the soldiers with guns were still there and myunghee didn't find myungsoo since he got back to the camp safe, but heetae met with kyungsoo since he was about to arrest myunghee whilst he was on the scene but didn't since kyungsoo was in shock for seeing heetae and so didn't arrest them and let them escape on the ambulance and heetae told kyungsoo that sookchul was alive and safe and in Gwangju, which made kyungsoo drop his gun in shock. And now myunghee dad walked all the way from NAJU to get myungsoo and myunghee way a from the chaos and in order to give them space to talk, heetae goes with another doctor to get blood transplant bags from another hospital, even though they planned to leave Gwangju at that time only for heetae and the other doctor to be crashed into another military truck who ran into them PURPOSELY. GWANJU HAS BEEN OVERTAKEN BY SOILDERS and now everybody getting attacked unfairly as they are “going against government” (the soldiers honestly just hitting for fun bruh) AND OBVIOUSLY HEETAE AND SOORYEON BROKE THEIR ENGAGEMENT BETWEEN EACH OTHER AND CAME BACK TO GWANJU and heetae wanted to leave with myunghee and go someplace far bcs of the chaos but then myunghee convinced heetae to stay a tad bit longer so she can treat her patients and he volunteered as a doctor as well. And sooryeon got caught being and Gwangju by soochan who confronted her about being in the protests and “ruckus” but she said she wasn’t and just was trying to help a middle-school kid not get beaten up by the soldiers but in turn got taken in with the kid by soldiers herself, but the police officer who had a crush on her saved her BTW IF HAVENT SAID IT BEFORE SHE GOT ARRESTED TOWARDS THE START LIKE REAALLY START PRB EP 1 OR 2 WHEN PRINTING OUT PRO-DEMOCRATIC FLYERS AT HER FATHER’S FACTORY AND THE OFFICER WHO ARRESTED HER EVENTUALLY GOT A CRUSH ON HER AND HE SAVED ALL THE PEOPLE BY RELEASING THEM FROM THE SOLDIERS BY TRICKING THEM AND TELLING THEM TO GO OFF FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO CATCH AND THAT HE WOULD ENSURE NO ONE ESCAPES AND HE FREED EVERYONE WHO GOT CAUGHT BY SOLDIERS BUT THEN EVENTUALLY IN ANOTHER SCENE LATER ON IN THE EP WE FIND HIM NEAR-DEAD AND HIS LAST WORDS WERE “YOUR NAME.. I DIDN’T GET TO-” BRO LIKE OMDS THAT WAS ACC FREAKING SAD and then sooryeon and soochan were crashing out and eventually soochan is like “if you leave the door I won't consider you family anymore” LIKE BRO I SWEAR U JUST UR MOTHER’S LAST WORDS WERE TO TAKE CARE OF HER ON YOUR MOTHER’S BEHALF?? and at the end myunghee and heetae were about to leave but eventually heetae is kinda like moved by the situation and wants to stay a tad bit longer because JIN A GOT HURT BY THE SOLDIERS BCS THEY CAME TO HER SKL AND STARTED ATTACKING THE DIRECTOR AND OBV SOME SECURITY GUARD AND HER SPOKE UP AND THERE WAS CROWD OF STUDENTS BEHIND HER AND THEY GOT CHASED BY THE SOLDIERS AND SHE GOT HURT AND SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO GET A CT SCAN BUT SHE DIDNT REGISTER TO GET CHECKED BCS SHE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS NOTHING BUT WHEN HEETAE WENT TO CHECK UP ON HER AND FOUND HER NOT THERE AND HE LOOKED FOR JINA ONLY TO FIND HER UNCONSCIOUS AND SO DID CPR REGARDLESS OF HIS PASS TRAUMA WITH SOOKCUL AND GOT JINA BACK.

BASICALLY sooryeon and heetae go Seoul and he was always outside whilst she was stuck at home, and obviously being all alone in a place she didn’t want to be in was even more heartbreaking so eventually she persuades heetae to go back to Gwangju and GET TOGETHER YAYA BUT towards the end the marital law was applied so now the military is in control and the pro-democratic activists such as hyegun are cooked and it was lowkey proper funny because Jin A was scream crying because heetae left her to go Seoul and now she wouldn't get tutored by heetae anymore.

MYUNGHEE’S VISA AND PASSPORT APPLICATION WAS PUT ON HOLD DUE TO IT NEEDING TO BE CONFIRMED BU THE DEFENSE SECURITY COMMAND CENTER, the same centre that heetae’s dad worked at since he wanted to threaten myunghee since he got his men to KIDNAP HER AT THE END OF LAST EPISODE. and then after she told soochan to call his friend to check in her application. Either way even if it was in hold it wouldn’t pass through since MYUNGHEE DAS WAS ACCUSED of being an anti-communist and so he was tortured by heetae’s father which how he got his limp but myunghee never knew until now, so now she finally understands why all these times her chances in life were always declined since she was an anti-communist (a commie)’s daughter. AND HEETAE MY POOR MAN was looking all over for her, even went to myunghee’s family home in naju where heetae ate with her parents and he introduced himself as myunghee’s boyfriend and asked where she was and her parents replied with she hadn't come, until he finally found her but myunghee wasn't talking to heetae because of heetae’s dad destroying her plans of going abroad because of myunghee dating heetae. And after heetae got on his knees, and begged his father to let myunghee go abroad, and he replied with “it’s just the start” HE’S UR SON NOT ENEMY NO NEED TO TREAT HIM LIKE THAT and then heetae”s dad ordered him to go Seoul with sooryeon and live there until he tells him to come back (heetae dad will probably only tell him to come back once the wedding preparations ready) and that his behaviour in Seoul will determine myunghee’s fate. On the other hand, soochan was tweaking because it was his fault that heetae’s dad found out so he was trying everything he could to help myunghee, until sooryeon walks in, and out of gult of what had happened sooryeon tells her brother about how they had been lying from the start, that myunghee went to the first blind date not her. And then eventually soochan and sooryeon tell their dad as well, which is when her dad still tells her to marry, and that they would compensate myunghee, since she “wasn't family” according to their father, which causes soochan to crash out and he says he would handle it on his own and tell heetae”s dad himself about calling off the wedding, which then causes soochan’s dad to faint and then sooryeon finds out about her dad’s illness and it affects the heart and stress is a risk factor and wtv and eventually instead she decides to go Seoul in the end to not cause more pain to her father and myunghee AND THEN HEETAE GOES TO MYUNGHEE HOUSE AND SAYS GOODBYE AND THAT THEY PROBABLY WON’T SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN AND SHE ENTERS THE HOUSE AND STARTS CRYING INSIDE THE FRONT PORCH AND HE’S OUTSIDE THE DOOR CRYING ASWELL.

WDYM SOOCHAN IS BLINDED BY HIS JEALOUSY like gosh we get it you juwahae (ifykyk;) ) myunghee but for it to go to the point that ur so blinded u decided to snake on heetae and myunghee TO HEETAE’S FATHER A MAN KNOWN FOR ABSOLUTE TORTURE whilst sooryeon also decides to be a bitch to myunghee and decided to say that she “DID NOT” know about heetae’s and myunghee’s relationship when you know damn well you did and why was she getting so pressed HER BEST FRIEND WAS LEAVING IN A MONTH AND ALL SHE WANTED WAS HAPPINESS, yet sooryeon decided to a bitch and call myunghee a fake friend all due to the fact that myunghee said the situation reminded her of how sooryeon kinda “got her to leave” (myunghee took the blame for sooryeon, but sooryeon didn't force her dw it was bcs sooryeon was her bsf and she didn't want sooryeon to take the blame) school, and just like right now, sooryeon wants myunghee to leave the country and go abroad for her studies so then sooryeon could have a peaceful marriage. OMG IT SO SAD AT FIRST since myunghee told heetae to go and get engaged to sooryeon and so because she said that heetae acc got engaged with her and it was so sad bcs heetae and sooryeon was shopping for clothes for the engagement ceremony when they bumped into soochan and myunghee, and myunghee was helping soochan pick some clothes out OMG HE DEFO HAS A CRUSH BUT HE HASNT CLOCKED because he was going on about how myunghee considers sooryeon a sister so she should as sooryeon’s brother he should buy clothes for her. BUT IF SOOCHAN KNEW HIMSELF THAT HE HAD A CRUSH ON HER I don't think he would've said that but he so cute and giddy though he lowkey deserves a good woman. AND I KNOW WHY MYUNGHEE HATES HER FATHER its because she took the blame for some pro-democratic thing sooryeon did in high school but they forced the blame on her so she had to drop out of high school and even her dad told her to say yes to the fact she did be part of the pro-democratic activist thing even though she wasn't a part of it AT ALL. AND I FEEL SO SAD FOR SOORYEON because she’s forced to marry heetae and the guilt wasting her up so she can't even speak to myunghee, even when myunghee bought the pro-democratic document to her on her engagement cermoney and myunghee even cellotaped all back up since myunghee’s dad ripped it up, and after myunghee left, sooryeon started crying because of the guilt. OMG HEETAE HAS SM TRAUMA BROSKI like wdym his friend kyung soo, a pro-democratic activist, made heetae treat other injured protesters e.g stitching wounds and wrapping bandages and wtv but then this girl sukchul comes along and she lost a lot of blood, and so heetae told his friend to go to the clinic nearby and get some stuff, yet on his way kyungsoo was caught, and arrested and sent to the military. Sookchul was presumably treated which is why she’s in a hospital bed and wanted to go home which is why heetae is going through desperate measures to get her transferred to Gwangju because he BLAMES himself for what had happened, and all those memories came flooding in when he fed an orphan that was residing at the orphanage that heetae and myunghee visited and that orphan had Gastroparesi, so she couldn't eat food or she would start vomiting, so he started blaming himself, saying everything he touches breaks, so he is t qualified to be doctor. Myunghee comforts him by saying that for a fact he will be a good doctor since he is feeling so much guilt indicating he is a responsible person. AND WHILST ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING HEETAE’S DAD TOOK SOORYEON IN FOR “QUESTIONING” SUNCE SHE WAS CAUGHT WITH ONE OF THE LEADERS OF THE PRO-DEMOCRACY MOVEMENT AND HEETAE’S DAD THREATENED HER SAYING IF SHE DID ANYTHING WRONG IT WOULDN'T BE HER GETTING AFFECTED BUT HER LOVED ONES INSTEAD AND THAT THIS IS HER LAST CHANCE. and plus her brother invested with some people who were introduced to him by heetae’s dad so if sooryeon backed out of the marriage, her brother and father would experience the aftermath. So for now she has to go along for the sake of her brother and father especially since her father’s company was struggling and her brother’s company just started, even though it would look bad on her as an activist who supports pro-democracy marrying a military officer’s son, as well as her the guy her best friend liked. AND I THOUGHT THEY BOTH GOT TOGETHER BUT AFTER HER STRUMMED THE GUITAR AND MADE A MELODY AND ASKED HER OUT SHE TOLD HIM TO GIVE HIM TIME AND EVENTUALLY A FEW DAYS LATER AFTER WORK, IT WAS THE NIGHT AND HE WAS WAITING WITH ROSES, HE EVEN WROTE IN HIS LETTER TO KYUNGSOO ABOUT HOW HE FINALLY KNEW WHAT LOVE IS, YET WHEN MYUNGHEE GETS TO THE PLACE HEETAE WAS WAITING FOR HER OUTSIDE HER HOME, SHE ASKS HIM IF HE COULD JUST MARRY SOORYEON INSTEAD LIKE WHATATTTT

ITS CALLED IT BECAUSE MYUNGHEE AND HEETAE START DATING IN MAY 1980 UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH WHERE SHE’S SCHEDUELED TO LEAVE FOR ABROAD. at first she broke up with him so they only have “happy” memories but then heetae decided to be myunghee’s landord’s daughter’s tutor and he stayed afterwards for dinner and eventually after dinner heetae stayed over and in the middle of night heetae uses the landlord’s son’s guitar (the son is enlisted in the military so he’s not in the scene) and whilst doing so wakes up myunghee who both then have a talk and eventually come to an agreement that they should date until the end of May, BUT heetae’s dad is catching up to them because at sochan’s opening ceremony for his new pharmaceuticals company where the gain licensed patents and create medicines in Korea instead of importing them from abroad, heetae’s dad notices how heetae was always staring at myunghee even though heetae was supposedly to be in love with sooryeon, and so he got suspicious and ordered his men to tail his OWN son, and I THINK myunghee & her dad have a connection with heetae’s since we saw a past memory where heetae was looking through a gap in the door, and saw myunghee screaming at her dad saying “I DIDNT DO IT!” or something along those lines. AND I THINK SOOCHAN HAS ONESIDED LOVE FOR MYUNGHEE BECAUSE HE’S ALWAYS GOING IUT OF HIS WAY FOR HER LIKE HE SO KING AND UGHUGHH and it was so funny when heetae visited soonryeon whilst she was protesting at the top of a building, saying heetae wanted to go on a date with sooryeon, only for to get pissed and stand on the edge of the rooftop only to slip, and luckily get saved by heetae. And once they got to the hospital they started arguing, which amplified to myunghee how alike they were, reminding her of what soochan said saying “although they may squabble, they will live happy lives together” or something, idk. But it kinda added on to myunghee’s list of excuses as to why she shouldn’t go on those dates with heetae anymore until heetae decided to convince in the end to go out with her YAYAYAY.

OMG I swear to god if the producers pull out some heartbreaking backstory for heetae im genuinely gonna crash because he’s so kind and charismatic its insane, like myunghee tried to get him disgusted from this really run-down restaurantand then he goes “I've used to eat people’s leftovers, so this is fine.” LIKE WHO DID THIS TO MY BEBEH HEETAE and myunghee’’s brother makes ME SOB because he loves his noona and abooji (see the Korean lang I used there ;) ) yet they're fighting like broskiki, I have a feeling myunghee’s dad wasted all their money on gambling even though he was successful athlete, just like his son is rn, until he experienced an accident. Low-key my hypothesis cooked. WHEN HEETA DUNKED WATER ON MYUNGHEE’S COWORKERS FOR SHITTALKING HER I WAS SO GASSED LIKE YES DUDEE, he probably knew myunghee wasn't sooryeon by then, because why else would he get pissed about somebody shittalking about myunghee, a person who he shouldn't “technically” know. AND I ALREADY KNOW THEY GONNA PAINT HEETAE’S BROTHER JUNGATE AS SOME VILLIAN EVEN THOUGH ALL HE WANTS IS HIS FATHERS RECOGNITION but im lowkey excited for the brother in laws scrap (get it? Heetae brother and myunghee brother ifykyk) BUT I HATE HEETAE’S DAD LIKE HE SO BITCHY YET HE ACTS ALL RELIGIOUS (im probably hypocritical for saying that) BUT UGH I HATE HIM
