I always find it funny for people who don't watch J-dramas to say these reasons which require an intensive amount of drama watching to form that harsh reasoning. There are a lot of handsome, ikemen and beautiful Japanese actors and actresses who can act very well. Beauty is a thing that's subjected to personal taste, I don't find many popular K-actors attractive I just shake my head when I see people fangirling about them while I sometimes see people bashing the looks of K-actors I like. And about the Idol thing, I have 13 J-dramas in my favorite drama list only one is starring idols, they're not in majority of dramas.
Thank you for writing about J-dramas. It’s a vast world I think I’ll never get bored with.
I started watching Jdrama five years ago. First I used to choose dramas randomly, mostly by reading synopsis and looking at the posters since I didn’t know who’s who. after a year or so I started to pick dramas based on actors or actresses and basically stalk their works until I find another one… but I found that the easiest way to find dramas that suit my taste is by following the writers lists of work. I think it’s writers that deserve stalking guides more than actors because some of them really amazes me. So for people who love the romance genre I recommend checking Kitagawa Eriko's dramas. For Comedy and wacky crazy situations : Kudo Kankuro. For powerful dialogues and stories with deep meaning check the dramas by Sakamoto Yuji, also most of his dramas are well acted by amazing talented actors.I also recommend dramas written by Nojima Shinji for everything. I think he writes various plots and genres. He wrote Pride which I loved too but I think Love Shuffle is a masterpiece in J-drama world.
I think this drama wasn't about story or character development. It was more about the characters' feelings and impressions about life in the city, friendship and their relationships and I really liked that.
I just rewatched the last scene in ep05... He clicked his tongue!. Now I'm really excited to watch ep06. This drama might seem slow but it doesn't waste time to make progress.
I think this is just a very long commercial for the Manga. Visit the official site and there's no picture for the cast on the main page, just the awful manga cover. I watched 1st episode and it had that cover appear between scenes and what's funny is that they chose to frame the entire episode above a background from the Manga! with the word Mars tagged at the corner, Do other sources have that frame? Fujigaya have a funny walk. And when that teacher entered the art room I remembered that I tried watching the Taiwanese version before. This drama looks meh I'm only watching because Kubota looks the same looks he had in April's Fools. I actually wonder if he's after Rei or Kira XD
I liked the first episode. The main two characters reminded somehow of Soredemo, Ikite Yuku's main characters. Although Arimura Kasumi is definitely not Mitsushima Hikari but I like Kasumi's face and I seem to not hate her in main roles as I did with her supporting roles.
I was surprised with its psychological aspect (I didn't check the genre nor read the synopsis) I thought it would be a boring story about friendship but it turned out to be a very good mixture of comedy and heavy themes. If this was a novel I would definitely enjoy reading it.
MARS - Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru is an adaptation from the Japanese manga. I think the word "remake" should be used for remaking original script from a tv show or film. What I'm trying to say is that the Jdrama will have its own take on the manga, probably.
I really liked the first two episodes and the last two but the episodes in between seemed to have no purpose but to show that Taro was careless and doesn't listen to anyone but himself, may be that's what the angel voice meant, and because of that he eventually lost his grandmother in that cold and sad way.
Very good drama with a lot of heart in making it. Anyone experienced pregnancy and child birth or have someone experienced it will definitely relate to this drama. It was well acted and very realistic, I even forgot that it's adapted from manga except for Director Osawa's character and BABY's wig.
I liked Konotori Sakura's character very much, Ayano Go really shines in this kind of sweet and lovable characters. Konotori's story was sad but give us hope as we see him being a great doctor and musicain. the scene in epsode 5 when he visit the infant home was very beautiful and emotional, I cried a lot in that episode T_T
Episode 9 made me cry again just like episode 2 and 5 and even 8 which really made this drama very special to me. They did the right thing holding their baby, that's the least thing a mother can do for a baby that come to life and leave so fast. I love how genuine those mothers look through the episodes.

Without comedy this drama would be boring so I didn't like the last two episodes but ending was very cute...
I really like Ishihara Satomi's ability in having strong chemistry with actors opposite her. I find her with Yamashita Tomohisa cute even more than her and Oguri Shun in Rich Man, Poor Woman.
It's the first time I liked watching Yamashita Tomohisa in a drama, I always find his face annoying especially in his dramatic roles, I think comedy suits him better.
Episode 7 is so sad. and what was that about the angel voice? Taro and Saegusa are so stupid. Actually, after episode 3 I started to dislike Taro's character.
In my opinion it's unfair to drop and rate a drama after watching less than five episodes. I watched many first episodes but never bothered to add them. I don't rate anything unless I finish it, except Ghost, I watched half of it and I knew it's over-rated. I couldn't endure the amount of stupidity considering it was supposed to be a crime and investigation drama.
