Ep 1-2 : huiju clearly states that her reason for marrying the prince is to elevate her social status, gain power,…
My theory is this: Prince told her the first reason for 'marrying her' is that he is taxpayer funded and she will not be a burden on the taxpayer - Prince is second-born & not in line to throne, he is regent and performing ceremonial royal duties only because His Majesty is 8 yo. Once king comes of age, Prince's role & functions will be limited. So I'm sure there's some rule about it which he knows, or else he would not have gone ahead with accepting her proposal.

On the other hand, this also means that Prince has to find a permanent solution to his role and place in monarchy by modernizing it because he won't take himself out of it - If he's not a prince what is he? - so he has to find his place and also get his wife accepted and also find who is trying to kill all members of his 'line' of the family!!!! I don't think he's going to usurp the rights of his nephew to be king. He will protect him, not take over.

Really enjoying this!!!! IU is so good with comedy. Love her!!! First time watch BWS as male lead, and I really…
The FL & ML both have daddy issues - both were more talented than the first borns, but sidelined or not respected because: a) Heejoo is a girl and from an affair not legitimate wife and forced on the father, b) Prince YiAn was not important because he was second born & not crown prince - and once 8yo Majesty comes of age (16 or 18), he will lose relevance that he has right now as 'regent' (performing ceremonial duties on behalf of the king).

Men usually DO hold more power in governance and business, I think that's why there are more men. Plus, prime minister is second lead (!!!)

It's Heejoo's story more than the prince's IMO. I want to see her win all the way!

so, the grand prince is the brother-king's half brother?so did their father remarry? or will there be aote complicated…
What I've understood is that he and his brother had one mother - the queen - who died in 2005 in a car accident. Then the king had a heart attack in 2017 and then the brother-king died in fire accident (smoke inhalation) in 2022. There is no mention of 2 mothers or wives (or concubines!!!) And ML is regent only because majesty is 8 years old. Once majesty comes of age, ML will just be the basic uncle-prince. No one is 'crown prince.'

From the marriage scene they showed (where ML tells his brother he had given him the chance to run away / escape the marriage), ML's brother-king did not want to marry the woman (current queen mother) and felt duty-bound / forced to do so. Brother-king also did not want to remain king. I think they are trying to show the burden of rigid rules, because ML hates the rules too.

This drama deserved 16 episodes or 2 seasons. It's like the old-fashioned kdramas of yore that had the right balance of everything! Am enjoying a kdrama rom-com after a very long time. It's hard to wait a week for next episode. Also, I think it would have been a huge ratings / viewing success if it had been on Netflix. Disney stream is not Netflix.

Why did they mention princess diana :'((( plllzzz no trauma plzzzzz :((((
Probably foreshadowing the car crash designed to kill heejoo (Ep.4)..... Princess Diana also died in a car crash. Someone could be trying to kill heejoo but you know it could be that someone was trying got kill the 8 year old majesty, since the entire royal family has been killed / died in suspicious circumstances, someone could be trying to get rid of system of monarchy by killing direct line.

I've reviewed the Zhang Linghe - Chinese military (media wing) controversy over 'foundation-wearing general' and concept of masculinity, in the context of traffic idols, female brands and female consumers. Do check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks : https://youtu.be/W6SxcA3515A

This was very well-made and from the first shot of the film, when you see Satoshi Tsumabuki in the bus/ train, you can feel this is one depressing film and as the story moves forward, you realize it's far more harrowing than that first shot and nothing is as it seems!

I liked the series and reviewed it for a YT channel. I think Jdoramas are superior to both K & C in terms of world-building, showing people doing actual work and bromance and romance. It's not as cheeky as K-dramas.

Title Love beyond the Grave Spoiler
- DX himself acknowledged that many men would've been in love with her over the years, and it would also be weird…
@adelananda, Everything you've said is true, but it is such a risk! I didn't like the 'illusion/dream' sequence of mortal life, where DX is selling fruit (!!!!!) & she is a carpenter, and I was like, this may look like a simple life but it also sounds so poor, to live like this as a mortal is tough. And no children! At least in that dream. Even if he retains title of former general, the palace intrigue and war will always loom despite the riches, while she will have no real power (even if she has her own money) - in fact she and entire family can get killed if emperor dislikes DX over anything! Instead of giving it all up, she should take a vacation once a year to experience all the senses and go back to that dark, unfeeling, spirit world which is her day job! (like all 'human beings' who have their annual paid leave!) :)
