Ep. 33: Of course, the greedy parents of FL lapped up the gold & treasures (& thoughtful gifts) ML brought to be on their good side - forgetting he is from the demon side & forgetting that both had tried to kill ML in an ambush, and then agreed to his crippling in front of everyone even though he had done nothing wrong, AND that their daughter got the beating of a lifetime over saving this guy. Just like the greedy parents were ecstatic when Song's father had provided them with keys to shops & lands as proposal for their daughter. Just like the greedy parents were very okay with their daughter having a rich fiancé, son of a sect leader, who brought gifts whenever he showed up. Usually such grifting is done by villains. Using a 'daughter' for advancement, money & social status! So much for the morals of Luoyong Valley!!!

Of course, FL said no to ML's proposal yet again, despite accepting the gifts, and her parents giving him a room in the house (which they did because of his gifts). She could've said no I don't trust you or you just came to get info on my aunt + Master + Jade to get MIB out of hiding (which was his goal apart from proposal anyways - even I had guessed he had 2 things planned for this trip) or let's not announce it yet or thank you but I need time, but no, she said expressionlessly, 'no, because you are from a prominent family' - well, lady, you and your parents go for prominent families and 'Cinderella' moments. And she does this to a person she says she loves for the nth time......(but no harm in accepting his gifts while giving him the cold shoulder).

I'm done with this lame duck drama. Maybe it's a fantasy of some female viewers to see rich powerful handsome men brought to their knees by talentless, loud, confused village belles who have no goals in life other than to snare the most eligible bachelor & emasculate him while 'peacefully' enjoying the privilege & freedom that his wealth brings. 'The Double', 'Blossoms in Adversity' & many others balanced conspiracy with slow burn aesthetically pleasing romance. This drama is a pill. See you all in the comment section of some other drama soon!

P.S. I'm guessing aunt was FL's real mother, because of what is shown in Ep.33. I also think Master was not trying to 'cure' aunt, he was trying to kill her slowly OR take her power away from her slowly. It's obvious ML is suspicious of Master with all the questions he was asking about him.

Twenty years ago some mysterious thing occurred between 6 sects and the demon king that resulted in FL's aunt killing ML's uncle to save her sects. The shadow of what happened at that time carries to this day in the lives of FL & ML & everyone else, including the survivors of that time period on both sides. FL & ML set out in search of the truth, have adventures, some cool fights, next to zero romance. ML is a long suffering, unhinged, crazy, manipulative & secretive lover boy with ambitions of ending the enmity & uniting all people, while FL is a practical, non-committal girl who believes there can never be peace between the 2 factions. They find out what happened all those years ago & who is creating unrest in present day.

Oh really? Ouch.

One is the future lord of 6 sects, the other is current lord of demon world & she's just a village bumpkin who says one thing but does another. FL is not god that everyone has to adhere to her idea of life & love & work & play & behavior. ML has repeated his end goal for Jianghu & them as a couple countless times. They went through a lot together since Ep.1 & found many truths together. She has learnt nothing & has not grown mentally or emotionally. ML has. Song has. She hasn't. She was a chess piece in a life or death situation, where ML forced her in a situation so that she makes a decision on him, in which she had to take a stand - it was wrong, I said so too - but then she made the love confession & apparently broke up. After a year's separation, if she doesn't like his manipulative shady side, if she doesn't like the obsessive crazy guy, if she even regrets loving him, she should state it clearly to him & move on - if she can launch a sword at ML, she can equally tell him don't pursue me anymore. She doesn't do that. Why does everyone else have to change to suit her, while she stays the same?

No, she wasn't clear with Song. She knows he's still pursuing her, and she's gleefully living with him & eating lunch in Luoyong Valley with him while villagers are talking about Song as a suitor in front of her. Why? Because she doesn't want to take responsibility for her feelings or his or make a decision. She is literally a ferris wheel any one can go on a ride on or with. If this girl existed in real life, it wouldn't be slut shaming, it would be exactly what I've said above.

She also has the habit of insinuating herself in situations where she's likely to meet ML or Song or both. For a girl who wanted a peaceful life, she goes out of her way to seek danger & chaos. You cannot excuse her inconsistent behavior.

Ep. 32: FL's inconsistency is extremely irritating - she is forever talking in riddles 'I used to like you' 'I'll start over with you' and next moment when ML asks whether she meant it when she said she'll stay with him if he gives up the zewei method, she's quiet, and then still later, she's wistfully smiling at him, and then later, he's arrived with a proposal & of course she'll say no without any clear reason (she can say no, while giving him assurance that she still likes him, and waiting to resolve the MIB situation who may be watching them or wait a few years, - meet him halfway FGS - but no, she won't do that - she has to lead every guy around, talking in semantics). I swear I've never seen a drama in which a heroine kept 2 guys hanging around her like puppies till the last episode. She knows Song hasn't given up on his proposal, but she has to hang with him every second of a day because he is 'older brother' (Is she for real?). Just say BIG FAT NO to the ML & move on with your dumb life with dumb friends & dumb parents. At least the viewers will know where you stand. She plays on the weakness ML has for her & Song has for her to her advantage every single time - she just wants guys around as an ego boost. She wants to have her cake & eat it too, at the expense of others. She wants perfection in everything, everything has to be perfect for her. A very confused young woman. After 32 episodes, I don't think there's anything more to this FL.

This episode was a waste of time.

Also, I've noticed Master acts more affectionately towards FL as if he's a bf or a love interest than a father figure. He's creepy. His daughter never got his attention nor affection the way FL does.

Good god, Pingshu was never involved with Master, but Master was sure as hell infatuated / obsessed with her - just like every other guy in the sect. She was betrothed to FL's fiancé's dad & broke up that engagement when he wanted to get married to someone else.

I'm also tired of her story & her inclusion in every episode, along with dead oldies from decades ago at the expense of lead couple's romantic trajectory, even though Zhangyeng segment with Pingshu ought to be interesting.

I absolutely don't think watching Ep.31 that he thinks she 'chose' or 'is with' Song. ML knows & confirmed that FL still has feelings for him (during the swordless-sword fight between them). ML obviously is not over FL. He shows jealousy & is unnerved because he knows Song saw her for a year in seclusion, when he sees her care for Song, when she takes a risky Forest journey for Song & when she grabs Song's arm. That's what he didn't like (because he's the same-old possessive crazy-for-her 'I'll come back from ashes for you' guy underneath the cool-as-a-cucumber, calm exterior).

No I saw a scene where they are holding hands, smiling & running together in a very bright sunny day, wearing pastel shaded light-shaded silky clothes, & I assumed it could only be the last scene and their wedding. Now I'm all worried! (shouldn't keep hope up even for one scene of them as a couple!!!!)

Of course there will be a wedding scene in Luoyong Valley - it's in the main series trailer - the problem is it most probably will be the last scene of the series - so we'll never see ML FL as a proper couple or 'in love', just running off into the sunset as free people in the last scene. So all the remaining episodes will be the same push-pull, marry-me-no-no, fight crap.

Oh, I thought ML had stopped her name being mentioned simply because he wanted to divert attention away from the love interest & not come across as the forceful obsessive guy he was before so that focus could be on demon-sect-corpse-MIB matters - biding his time till she's released, and I thought it'd be the same for her - that she'd at least acknowledge him since she'd said she loved him v much. I didn't know they thought of it as a breakup - because ML was standing in the canopy she made the next morning, clearly not over her. But you have made an excellent point about love-aunt-ML while she was being punished. Maybe FL thought she should move on from the impossible love dilemma. Thanks.

I think they'll show HE (them running off into the sunset as a married couple) only in the last scene by the way in which each episode is trudging along. I don't think we are going to see anything of their life as a couple other than the last scene.

Probably because ML 'romance' has been one-sided & FL after 'love confession' & great speech & separation arc is now acting like a stranger towards the guy she professed love to - at least they could've talked out about what happened in the past year to both of them & how they coped! But no, so that is most probably frustrating for viewers who aren't watching the drama to see 30 stories from past generations to be given in each episode at the cost of main leads romance.

I for one, don't expect her to 'get together' with ML, BUT they shouldn't have acted like strangers or frenemies at this point - all the maturity of Ep.29 out of the window & back to square one where he will pursue her, she'll say no, with all the misunderstandings & accusations along the way - I thought we were past this point. If she doesn't understand him even now, & he keeps secrets from her even now, what are we watching? Aunt & uncle's doomed romance through the eyes of present-day kids?

Yeah, I got sick of the aunt being mentioned in ep. 3 or 4 - & the great mystery of her romance & what happened in the cave is still not done - so more aunt coming up! Plus, they keep introducing characters from the past all the time - I only care about the leads, & well, of course by the end sect & demon world will be open for all, no more enmity - that's what I understand from the main series trailer - but ML & FL scenes need to increase, relationship needs to go forward, & let's fight enemies together without misunderstandings & accusations.

That's why I didn't want to watch today's ep. 31 - I vented here yesterday about how she, he & viewers need to get their heads examined because all of this back & forth, restart from zero is exhausting - ideally FL+ML should've touched base on happenings of the past year, progress ML has made, what she is going through - it didn't happen! The ep. was good. I think she's feeling shy, vulnerable & awkward around him. And he finds out she still cares for him but I thought we'd crossed this bridge & we are back on the bridge!

And FL is awkward / shy around him but let's hope the drama centers around them & not new characters thrown in every episode (this time it was some Lyuoyang valley sect 'demoness' who got screentime alongwith granny in the forest!)
