MAN, MAN, MAN. I finally understand why this drama is so highly rated!
Going into this, Chen Zhe Yuan wasn't really my type of general, and I only liked the LiQin well enough at first. But the STORYLINE??? THE PLOT??? It got me completely hooked within few episodes. I genuinely wanted to know what was going to happen next, and the more I watched, the more invested I became.
Fu Yixiao is THAT WOMAN. Seriously, one of the strongest female leads I've watched. And Li Qin's acting was SO GOOD. She really brought the character to life. Honestly, everyone acted so well that I was completely immersed in the story. The performances deserve so much credit.
And the relationship between Fu Yixiao and Feng Suige? LIT! ENEMIES TO LOVERS DONE RIGHT. They challenged each other, trusted each other, communicated, and actually had each other's backs. No hiding important things from each other for 10 episodes just to create unnecessary misunderstandings. They could disagree, have different goals, and still work together when it mattered.
I also loved that Fu Yixiao wasn't overshadowed just because Feng Suige was the Male Lead. She was formidable in her own right, and the two of them could genuinely stand beside each other as equals. Their dynamic was SO GOOD.
That said, this drama could be painful to watch at times. The emotional stakes were high, and there were moments when I really felt for the characters. I loved the experience, but I don't think this is a drama I'd rewatch. Once is enough for my heart, thank you very much. HAHAHAHA.
Overall, the plot, acting, character dynamics, and romance made this such a satisfying watch.
Now I understand the ratings. This one deserves the praise!
