Well honestly the Chinese entertainment industry is in a real slump and it's tough for everyone except a handful of actors. It's hard for him to find lead roles these days for sure. His last one 'Days of Seclusion and Love' he was supposed to be lead but they changed their minds halfway through now the female is supposed to be the lead (which sucks). I don't know if they finished that one yet. Also to be honest, I LOVE him as second lead. He always sneaks in, breaks your heart, and steals the show that way.
But I do feel you. I get a distinct feeling from him that he is having a hard time finding roles, and is a bit scared and downtrodden at the moment. It probably also has to do with his agency. I'm sure he'll pull through, but things don't seem to be unfolding as he expected right now. Love Deng Wei forever though, no matter what. (And apparently so does everyone else, his fans are rabid and he's still an insanely popular top-tier traffic actor, even though he hasn't released anything in ages or filmed anything new in a long time - even his last project is in limbo).

Not just Deng Wei but his character Jack should have been the main love interest in 'Sassy Beauty'...he was so much better, more devoted and obviously hotter than the boring-ass prince she was all about. I was ready to riot after watching that damn show. Even if I didn't know DW I would have still rioted. Justice for Jack!

Will the director go back to the original script to get funding or is this thing DOA forever? Ha ha, I'm glad you like it! I honestly would absolutely ***love*** to make more, but no joke it is expensive to generate these good lip sync movies (way more expensive than other platforms, but it gives the best results). Despite that, it still takes a lot to get the correct performance, there's a lot of totally wrong output it likes to give. So unless I have a way to fund it, it will probably stay like that for now. : \
