A pure, complex portrayal of love

The two main characters are both deeply flawed in their own ways, and as such are deeply human. From the outside their relationship seems empty, as if they are together out of habit or a threadbare sense of duty, whilst a destructive, insidious bitterness creeps in.

But we come to realise that love is not predicated on logic, nor does it require the fulfilment of certain modern trappings like money, success, or even being personable and conversational. One can be estranged from the character of their loved one, may not even understand them, yet can still love them fiercely. They have "love at least", and it is enough.

It's a beautiful message particularly regarding those suffering from mental health issues who feel themselves inherently unlovable due to being impoverished, unable to work, unable to get a degree or fit into society. Love and the ability to be loved go deeper.
