it was fine but sorry the ml's acting felt so flat but also like he was trying too hard idk i've liked him in other stuff so mb it's just not the best role for him. also the "romance" felt completely unearned i really hate the trope of oh i met this person briefly when we were kids but they're the love of my life!!! it's better when the characters actually spend time together later and actually fall in love but we just don't see enough instances of that here to be convincing

couldn't get past ep 5. most of the acting is pretty cringe and yeah i knew the premise going into it but the scenes of them getting rather intimate while he's still trying to convince her that he's her brother just kept getting weirder i can't stand it anymore

ok this was really good and i cried a lot but also sometimes when soundtracks are too good they can be distracting. i kept singing along to junsu instead of paying attention to the scene lol

most of the plot could have been avoided if cha gi ho didnt just angrily pound on her door after her dad died and instead knocked like a normal person and said something like "jiwoo, your dad was an undercover cop. i have a letter from him for you" literally anything along those lines. ofc if her dad who she thinks is a real gangster gets shot and some cop comes pounding threateningly on her door she's gonna assume he had something to do with her dad's death 😂 would've worked just as well for her to know who killed her dad the whole time and /pretend/ to get manipulated by him in order to get her revenge. or if they reached out to her before cha gi ho could have a chance to talk to her. just leave out the door pounding scene and it makes more sense lmao

i'm shaking why did a character from start up show up does this mean start up canonically takes place in the same universe??? the whole time they're building tech and there are nine tailed foxes running around such a strange crossover i can't

i really don't understand all the hate this is getting. everyone seems to agree jjs was incredible, but i'd argue that ssk did really well too. the only complaints i somewhat agree with are that the kissing scenes were a bit lacking and the end could've been done better. but overall i really liked their chemistry, i loved when what seemed to be a common trope of "woman disguises as man and accidentally makes the prince/king fall in love with her" turned into a revenge plot and had way more political intrigue than i was expecting. i was confused at first too that the king actually believed she betrayed him and was mad at him, so it was a pleasant surprise for me to find he actually was good and honest and had to play at being cruel and dismissive to keep the scheming officials fooled by him. i totally understand why she felt betrayed, again did we all not agree that his acting was really good, why wouldn't she get fooled by it too? i thought all the side characters were good too (including myungha, you don't have to completely like a character for it to be a well written or even sympathetic one). the costuming and soundtrack really elevated the show. the plot was interesting, i always like it when i don't 100% predict how shit will go while still having the developments believable. this is one of the best dramas i've watched in a while and is probably gonna end up as one of the few i rewatch occasionally!

same here! i have to wonder if people just don't like the actress and/or character and are equating that to bad acting

thank you! i came here after finishing it and enjoying it more than i've enjoyed a drama in a while, only to find the rating so low and people bashing ssk for?? playing a serious character? and crying too much? i think if i was in her character's position i would cry way more than she did lmao. idk something abt all the comments is reading as a combo of not liking the character and conflating that with not liking the actress, and having some preconceived dislike for her. sure jjs did an incredible job but ssk was fine and i liked their chemistry. any time a female celebrity is getting a bunch of hate for seemingly no reason it smells suspicious to me lol
