Ok. I am not the writer of the drama but if you have been watching you will find that even professor mentions how he didn't pursue her when he should have towards the end. but then again, opinions........

I really have a problem with people insulting the female lead’s character. One, it’s just a drama. Secondly, the male lead did not really pursue her actively. She kept having to guess and finally didn’t want to come between two of her friends, when she was told that Hua Hua and professor were already in a relationship. I am on episode 38 and still haven’t seen her lose her primary cause or motivation. She came to Shanghai to make something for herself and is a working progress despite the odds and obstacles. Each of the guys she dated she has dated seriously with marriage on her mind, plus the also pursued her. Professor, ML has been showing all kinds of lights 🚥 since then. Remember that she’s a village girl not a city girl. If he wanted to date her he should have made it obvious, stick to his guns and pursue her.

Yes it is. If there’s any cdrama that seem real it’s this one. The cringe is at a minimum and seems more like real life stuff
