Thank you for your comment, you wrote everything I wanted to say but expressed it much better than I could’ve…
I can relate to you on this. It also affected my mood as I was watching it on a weekly basis. Normally, i always wait for the drama to end before i watch it. All these years, I've learnt that the first half with kdramas are often interesting but then the writers would often rush or drop the ball in the second half.
I don't have much more to add but i do hope that you're feeling better now. Let's not dwell on it as this should just be for entertainment purposes. At the end of the day, we actually don't know these actors/actresses. They're rich and will live a good life. So in the same way, we should move on and focus on improving our own life instead.
I never post before but i just needed to get this off my chest after the finale. Sorry in advance for the lengthy post but this will be my first and last.
After finishing this drama, I felt disappointed with the ending. While some may see it as a happy conclusion, it left a sour taste in my mouth. At first, I thought my emotions were too strong, so I gave myself time to calm down. However, upon reflection, my opinion remained the same. The scene of old Hyunwoo walking up the stairs felt very lonely to me. I understand it's a symbolism of the cycle of life, but I hated it. Many comments mention that they lived a long life together and ultimately met again after death (i totally get that) but personally, I don't find any beauty or solace in that. For me, I would have preferred an ending where Hyunwoo and Haein rekindled their relationship, got married again, had kids, and grew old together. True happiness, to me, is the time spent with loved ones while alive, not after death. I think i would have taken the last scene better if the writers would just give me another 1-2 minutes slideshows of their lives together instead of the instant 50 years time skip. As an audience, i felt like Hyunwoo went through so much and by ep 16, i didn't feel that the chemistry was as good as earlier eps with Haein. Maybe because this is no longer the same Haein and KJW had to act in that way given the circumstances.
Also, don't come at me with the 'but this is a logical ending' - if we're just talking about whether or not it's logical, let's not just pick this particular moment and also ask yourself if the other 15 episodes were also logical.
Overall, I don't think this drama was overrated or over hyped. From episodes 1-10, it was truly amazing. I even thought that this might possibly be my favourite kdrama of all time. The scene when Haein announced her illness to the world was super iconic. Unfortunately, the writing fell short afterward. There were just too many unanswered questions and this is maybe because the writers ran out of time or just can't be bothered anymore. Too much time was wasted on unnecessary fillers while they could have used it to properly deal with the story and/or villains. Or maybe, this is just the best formula to get high rating. I personally wish that more drama would try to wrap up their story better in the earlier episode instead of waiting till the last episode to resolve everything.
Personally, i don't give a shit about the rating. Just remember that at the end of the day, this is just a fictional story and these actors are making banks. I don't understand why some of you are so invested on unnecessary fan war.
