I've properly checked out the cast (apart from SJY that I know and love already) and I've got to say, they seem perfect for their roles, especially the main two.

Onto chapter 7 now (book 2) and GY is shaping up to be my fave character and omg, CG is just so cute with his affection! Please tell me they're going to have consistent interactions with each other. Now that GY has drawn a clear line between them, I'm super pumped to find out how's the dynamic going to change.

That looks dope, is that concept art or something? Yeah, I'm realy hoping the budget will be enough, I could live with CQL's awkward looking monsters, because they didn't show it very often, but here though... They have to make the ships and the armours awesome, it's such a big part of the plot.

About to finish Book 1 (two chapters left), Gu Yun and Chang Geng just reunited and I've got to say, I can't imagine them getting together at all yet... Just what this poor boy is going to have to do for the yifu to notice him? (I hope nobody dies). Also, super curious how the CGI for the drama will turn out, the steampunk elements are even more prominent than I expected. Anybody know if the budget is decent enough?

It seems like ultimately it all comes down to preference. Just like the person above said, if someone doesn't usually read sci-fi/fantasy books, they might end up liking this story less than something more "straighforward" (be it 2HA or other stuff). For me, I'd rather read a normal book or fanfiction with my favourite couple than invest so much time into novels that don't focus on the story first. Your comment is super insightful! Priest is getting so many adaptations and that means something lmao.

Now you've got me all curious. I never read danmei novels (save for MDZS) because I don't think those are for me anymore, but if this one compares to regular books and it's not all about romance then maybe it deserves a shot. How long does it take to complete the whole thing without binging? I think TYK was pretty short for a novel.

You're not the only one, I shipped them too, but Oh-aew clearly wasn't into to him. The way he shot him down with "I want to be friends with you guys forever" LMAO when Q looked like he was about to confess. Personally I like both seasons equally for different reasons (second one really hits close to home with the uni stuff), but I could never bring myself to like Teh. He was a shitty bf even before he became the bf, but the heart wants what the heart wants I guess and it seemed like they were willing to work through the difficulties together, even if it hurt.

No matter who gets casted, there's always going to be a group of very vocal people who find faults everywhere and won't ever be satisfied ( I mean even on this site I've seen people commenting that "no actor could ever capture the perfection that is x" seriously?). I'm going to wait until I see them in action before passing judgement, even when it's not my dream cast. If the story is good and the chemistry is there, that's enough for me.
