Some of y'all are wildin' about "too mature", "too steamy". Adult dramas with veteran actors is the ultimate kink.
I’m thinking maybe it’s a cultural thing depending on where people are from? It’s really not even that much more than kissing other than that one implied oral shot (which gets a big ‘yasssss!’ from me haha) and it was just a flash. I’m all for adults lusting after each other actually acting like adults. Get it.
This is not a show full of action and yet each episode flies by. I enjoy it so much--it's just so gentle and passionate! It's a great addition to my usual fast-paced comedy variety line up.
I'd follow Seunggi to the ends of the earth but I'm really struggling with this one. The Hong Sisters have always been hit or miss for me, though. I'll finish it out of a sense of obligation but if it were anyone else, this is where I probably would have stopped. Zombie girl is great, though--I think we all can agree on that!
The show is entertaining but I am starting to have a serious love hate relationship with Sun Mi and Oh Gong as…
I agree 100% about the bracelet. They're framing these ~moments~ as swoon-worthy when right now it's based on a magical contract, and it'll take the air out of the inevitable actual love in the future. All the slow-mo and dramatic music feels like its being forced on us instead of letting the character's feelings grow organically.
They should shorten the episodes to 1 hour to help with production issues, which would also force the writers to be more succinct and clear with the gaping plot holes and world building. Maybe Cha Seung Won wouldn't have to fill time with embarrassing amounts of scenery chewing.
I adored this show for episodes 1-14, but those last two episodes REALLY made me uncomfortable. I felt insulted for Se Hee, especially as an introvert that has struggled with relaying my thoughts and feelings and have had beautiful, unselfish people in my life to help me. If you see a future with someone, you don't manipulate them to "fix" their personality and their flaws. You don't lie to them about traveling while you find yourself in Insadong and they sink into depression, sell their house, and drink, drink, drink, and then come back after they have been "fixed". ESPECIALLY if you think that their actions were caused by previous scars. You don't make new ones, you COMMUNICATE (you know, the thing that was lacking in the Ho Rang relationship that caused it to go sour...). The last two episodes just really backtracked on the maturity with which these relationships were portrayed in the first 14 episodes. We didn't need the scene with Ji Ho getting possessive and jealous over Se Hee communicating with his ex when their interactions were handled so well previously. Did the writers leave to go bake cakes and live with Youtubers for the final eps? I need answers.
Also, you can nurture new love and sign a work contract. I promise.
Disclaimer: I am only on ep. 7 (literally have been trying to finish it for 3 days) and reserve the right to change my mind should this show regain the magic it had in episode 1-2!!!!!!
Anyway, I never thought I'd say this about a drama with THIS AMAZING CAST, but I am high-key struggling to finish. Maybe I set my expectations too high, but the episodes drag and the dialogue is so childish in comparison to the mise en scène. Bless the reaper for being the only adult in this drama's world and the shining, red lipped beacon in my disappointment.
Also, let's not act like Eun Tak is alone in her antics. The goblin (and I say this as a big Gong Yoo fan) is 900 going on 13.
I haven't been able to watch dramas in the same way since watching this. Every time a drama character on any given show goes shopping or something, I cackle at the blatant product placement that sometimes I wouldn't notice before KoD.
People really just can't talk things out in dramas, can they? The noble idiot strikes again. Kind of disappointed in the drama for taking this route, but at least the comedic elements of the last episode were hilarious. Can I just have a show about Donghoon?
The new revelation doesn't completely ruin the drama for me, but it is disappointing. I agree with the previous commenters--writers, you've satirized drama cliches SO well, are you actually going through with this huge one?
I love the meta moments in this show re: ratings, sponsorships, etc. The writers/director are pulling off some excellent comedy--I kind of wish this show was just flat out comedy and dropped the dramatic moments that can drag it down. I've always been a bit dismissive of Siwon but I take it all back since he has me cackling in each of his scenes.

Alas, we'll always have Suji.

I don't care for melodramas but this is fantastic
Team anyone but him tbh.
