I agree with you on Zichuan Xiu being his most complex role. It's hard to make ppl laugh and he nails Xiu's antics really well. And thanks to the screenwriters who created witty lines. His Zichuan Xiu is more fascinating than the donghua's version lol
I look forward to S3 of STOTD, too! Perhaps we'll get Wu Zetian and Di Renjie in flashbacks? That would be great.

If reports were true, it would take a miracle if they released it in August this year lol. On reddit someone said the studio has completed 15 episodes so there's 37 more to go. They're busy making another donghua which is more popular than Purple River. That's why the completion of Purple River 2 is progressing slowly. Season 1 has 42 episodes with each episode about 19 min long. Like the drama, it covers the first arc. I don't know if season 2 will cover the same arc as season 2 of the drama. The cast is the same but they've changed the character models.

Painting Jianghu was filmed before Eternal Brotherhood, wasn't it? That would be awesome if it can be aired. Yang Xuwen's not professionally trained in martial arts but can act like he's good at it.
So far I've seen him in LOCH, SToTD and Eternal Brotherhood and each character is so different from one another. When I watched these 3 dramas, I saw Guo Jing, Lu Lingfeng, and Zichuan Xiu, not Yang Xuwen. He's really good. Where can I read reviews of his Zichuan Xiu's interpretation? Was it on douban?

I can't say whether it's right or wrong objectively but I can say that killing LH had been his main obsession since he failed to do it. Ge Ying Xing was like his father to him and he was truly devastated by the death of Ge. He swore to take revenge and saw that LH was the murderer of his Ge.

He had just wrapped Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty season 1 when he started filming Eternal Brotherhood. It's like one day he was Lu Ling Feng and the next day he was Zichuan Xiu. Stark difference between 2 characters. talking about a smooth transition.

I'm not sure if you remember in season 1, once Zichuan Can Xing called Xiu "Lin He". That's his real name when he was adopted by Ning's dad, they gave him a new name Zichuan Xiu. Xiu could be the last descendant of the Lin family (who vanished or completely wiped out I can't remember). In the cave Xiu told Bai Chuan that Jianming was the protector of the Lin family. Perhaps in season 2 we will learn more about Xiu's real family.
