is the writing weak? yes. is the acting questionable? also yes. is the directing debatable? absolutely. and yet, i only stopped watching once i ran out all the available eps. it’s like a car crash you just can’t look away from 😭💀
on ep 3 so far and i have to admit i’m enjoying this more than i expected, especially after all the negative comments. it’s not a masterpiece, of course, but a show isn’t bad just because the characters are.
Can you tell me other shows under GMMTV that you're talking about? I don't remember others, at least those that…
I agree and disagree when you say that I won’t find the level of quality I’m looking for in BLs. I’ve watched several BLs from other companies, such as Jack & Joker, KinnPorsche, The Wicked Game, Century of Love, Knock Out, and The Bangkok Boy, all of which have well-executed fight scenes. But when it comes to GMMTV, I rarely see that same high standard, with the exception of Not Me and, perhaps, The Heart Killers (which I watched mainly because of FirstKhao), but I understand what you're saying.

To be honest, the last one I genuinely tried to stick with was Kidnap, and that experience really didn’t work for me, so I’ve become quite wary of their attempts at crime or fight-heavy narratives.
Regarding this series, I enjoy certain aspects of the romance, but I still struggle to connect with Dunk’s performance, which makes it harder for me to fully engage. I went in with high expectations, yet I’ve ended up feeling largely disappointed with the overall creative direction so far.
The investigative side feels shallow, overly constructed, and lacking realism. The dynamic between the leads doesn’t always work for me either: the humor feels repetitive and leans far too much into an excessively sweet, almost saccharine tone. I was hoping for a romance that would unfold more gradually, shaped by tension and increasingly complex emotions, but instead the relationship moves far too fast.
On top of that, it’s especially hard to appreciate such a poorly executed police/crime aspect when a show like Goddess Bless You from Death is airing at the same time and handling its genre with far more confidence and care.
loved your review!!! you did such a great job pointing out the highs and lows of the series in a very objective…
Thank you so much!!! That really means a lot to me 🥺💖 I’m really glad the review came across that way. I’ll definitely keep going, thank you for the support!
I shared my full thoughts on the series in a detailed review, exploring its romance, performances, and emotional impact. If The Next Prince meant something to you, I hope you’ll give it a read. 💙
