I would say Bad Buddy novel is more similar to the series in a way! The approach and character list might not be the same as BBS novel started in medias res (they're already past the "he's back in my life" phase when the book starts), but there are still core scenes that you will find in the book (ex: Pran saved Paa)

Reader over here! I don't necessarily recommend the novel because 1) there's no politics/gov't part, 2) it's more of a typical uni bl book, 3) some ships that happen in the book don't happen in the series and vice versa.
