build is an actor who was notably in kinnporsche. as for why he is hated, 2 years ago his ex gf exposed some of their text messages from kp era. in those he insulted his costars and said violently homophobic things about the actor he was paired with, bible.

i'm pretty sure it's because it had been his goal/dream his whole life, so he still wanted to go, despite knowing there are no penguins; that's what he said. it was still something dear to him and he didn't want to just give it up.

insane thing to say to a teenager who lost the only adult that was around him, despite not being loving. you've clearly never experienced a toxic relationship of any sort, which is obviously good for you, but you're very insensitive. sure this is fiction but this happens in real life everyday to kids and it's crazy that this is how you would react to them.
