why douban rating is soo low for soo good and extremely popular drama. it's 6.8 while other known one has like…
Douban ratings are VERY strict and are usually not shallow. You'll see a lot of people on this site vote dramas 8/9s just because it has their favorite actor/really attractive popular idols in them, ignoring things like acting ability, pacing, writing/script quality, and production elements like editing, costume design, lighting/cinematography, set design, historical accuracy, sound etc. Douban is more like imdb but a little more strict on top of that.
For any drama that mainly features young traffic actors like Zhang Ling He (main lead) to get near a 7 means it's already really good by china standards. 8/9s are usually for really "serious"/high budget dramas or VERY exceptional idol dramas. To give you an example, nirvana in fire has a 9.4, to the wonder 8.9, and she and her girls 9.6. One of if not the highest rated young actor/idol drama in recent memory is love between fairy and devil at 8.2. A more recent example is 2024 blossom at 7.8. You can see these 2 as the peak of these types of dramas (pursuit of jade included). So this drama getting getting a near 7 means for chinese standards it's in the company of the best of these types of dramas.
all episodes are leaked but then why IQYI still doing 1 episode per day. These 1 ep is killing. What kind of strategy…
A really bad one, by the time they release their express package everyone will have already seen the leaked ones. They would have made the most out of a bad situation by releasing it today when people have barely had a day to even know about the leaks. By Wednesday every soul keeping track of the drama will already know they're out. Funny to see such money hungry companies make the dumbest decisions lol.
Any chance of someone fixing up the subs or this getting picked up elsewhere? I would really like to watch but my experience with mangotv subs has ruined their dramas for me =/
Actually if you buy the last 2 fast track you can get eng sub. I just did nordvpn to south korea and paid for the last 2 on wetv, it was $1 usd each episode.
If you are here for a beautiful experience which this drama will provide, yes, this will still be a good watch.…
Oh yes that's always a plus! I didn't exactly read a huge spoiler, I was only spoiled on the killer's identity and the male lead's past/familial history from a review that wasn't marked with spoilers haha. Is that a huge amount to take away from the plot would you say?

Ok, I think I'll give it a shot sometime soon! Thanks for your insight, I'm sure I'll at least be able to appreciate the direction and cinematography and other aspects even If I may be a bit spoiled. Thank you :)
LOL, Why is everyone complaining about lack of skin ship or kisses AND Fan service???Do they really need to do…
I'm thinking of watching this series and I'm not really concerned about skin ship or kisses or bed scenes like some crazy fans. The only thing that's worrying is I've read some people say that once they're together it doesn't seem like it or they don't act like they're in an actual relationship? Like some people calling it a heavy bromance/strong friendship instead of actual relationship. Is there any weight to this or is it just people that are starved from no kiss scenes?
Anyone know where you can watch this nowadays with good subs? I remember I had to stop a few eps in season 2 because the sub quality dropped by a lot and couldn't find good links.
Is this drama good enough to be rated better than other youth yet mature dramas (Put your head on my shoulder, le coup de foundre etc)? Not saying it seems bad but those 2 and others I see as the upper echelon of youth chinese dramas that have a lot less "cringe", not annoying/dumb/oblivious FL, more mature storylines vs lower youth dramas that have stupid breakup reasons, storyline thats just carbon copy of tens of other dramas, annoying tropes/bad lead personality types etc.
Does this end with a cliffhanger, or needs a second season for the story to be complete? I'm thinking of starting…
Nope the story is complete and there's not really a cliffhanger in terms of any plot contained within the season. What happens is that there's a tease at a separate case of corruption at the end of this season (like last 2mins) that the main character will supposedly take on in season 2.
I think the fact that it’s meant to be heavily exaggerated and comedic is clear from the first few episodes…
Liking the drama and sharing the same thoughts I had in my previous comment are not mutually exclusive. I don't think it's bad by any means, and am both aware and respect that it's made this way on purpose and the comedy is a big part of it. However, there has to be a reason that a good amount of people are saying the same thing. It just feels like a missed opportunity and could have made the drama unique or possibly propel it to the higher level. Like I said before, doing so would be an entirely different genre and tone obviously, but it's such an interesting plot element that's essentially wasted when at the end of the day it becomes a generic run of the mill drama filling out checkboxes towards the ending.
This drama could have been a lot more interesting if dong shik legitimately became a psychopath/killer and had a duel identity/disorder when his two lives come together and the drama shifted to dealing with that. They really took the easy way out by having him not be able to do anything since it's not "in his nature" and the ridiculous comedy. Admittedly this would then become a different genre. Basically, this plot is extremely generic when you boil it down to the fact that the diary really doesn't matter since at the end of the day he still has to be a good guy, still has to save the damsel in distress, and the actual killer as always has to bad and taken out. The drama just takes no risks with the entire plot line.
I'm interested in watching this show, but can anyone help me out a bit? I'm wondering, does this shows plot actually follow a generic monster/mystery/murder of the week format or is it a good long flowing plot/story. This is the impression I'm getting from the first few episodes and I hate shows that are like this. I'm hoping later episodes change this?
