I think it has to do with the setting. The soldiers were sent to those camps for a reason and I think that in…
"Nonsense"? The person I had a conversation with 3 years ago had a different opinion than me, the same as yours yet the way they replied was polite. The way you replied to my comment is hostile, so obviously you're not looking to debate or have a conversation at all. You came to fight when you could've scrolled away, so yes you are very obviously taking offense to what I said. You came in rushing into a conversation that is 3 years old looking to prove a point you'll never prove to me and I'm not willing to argue with somebody who can't disprove anything I say. Racism is more than calling people the n-word, racism as a system was upheld in the 1950s in America. I *am* a proponent of critical race theory. Therefore, most if not all Americans were racist back then. Also, I never said you weren't allowed to be offended. In my original comment, which dates to three years ago, I said that this anger/discomfort is misdirected because what you should be focusing on is how those Americans affected the other characters in the movie. I said you must be white or American because I don't believe anybody else would be so offended to a 3-year-old exchange to give out an opinion that's already been given out 3 years ago by the original commenter, if you bothered to read it all the way through. Besides, I don't know what you thought plugging a quote from Sowell would do after saying you were "not so much uncomfortable with the racism"? I'm not willing to converse with somebody who's belligerent "because you have a different view than mine". I already told the commenter above that. If you want to exchange with people or debate with others, don't barge in acting all haughty. Lol. You can't change my mind, I can't change yours. I guess now "that makes you understand why racism still exists today." Argue with a wall for the next 3 years again if you'd like.

I have spent the last 3 years educating myself on the subject, yet my opinion hasn't changed. If anything, these past three years have only strengthened the way I feel about this topic and for you to say "I am talking out of my ass" makes it very obvious to me that *you* feel butthurt. If you actually cannot understand why it makes no sense to portray Americans as friendly in a movie surrounding the war in Korea, then I believe nothing I could say will ever get through to you. Open a history book and look at how Americans treated and continue to treat people of colour. Your discomfort says a lot about you. I felt uncomfortable watching people being discriminated against. I believe you must be American or white and I must have offended you. That, or you've never stepped foot in a history class in your life. Either way, I am not sorry. I hope *you* will eventually come to the realization that portraying white people as racist does not harm you in any way, shape or form. I HOPE the racism made you uncomfortable: you're supposed to feel that way, that's the whole point. Again, I find it is unfortunate that what made you uncomfortable is the way Americans were portrayed and not the way their behaviour impacted the other characters (which historically were real people)

You're so right. The setting is very exciting.I think the last historical k-drama with 30 episodes I've heard…
I hope you enjoy it. It's one of my favorites.

Yeah. I get it it's okay. I'm glad we were able to have a respectful exchange because people can get hostile when subjects like this one are mentioned. Have a nice evening! :)

I mean at some point some of them must've went "Wait... This is some bullshit, let's not act like that" but I'm guessing it wasn't useful to the movie. They could've shown some friendly white Americans but if they had it would've changed the story and the ending I'm sure you understand why.

Good movie, not necessarily my cup of tea at parts (not a fan of the sudden violence/blood lol but it's a war…
I think it has to do with the setting. The soldiers were sent to those camps for a reason and I think that in 1951 most, if not all, white Americans were indeed racist. It may not be the case today but I think it makes sense with the setting of the movie that all of the white soldiers were depicted as racists. They were racist towards the black man too so why wouldn't they be racist towards the North-Koreans? Just looking at the history of white America and racism, to me, it just makes sense. Now, maybe you're unsatisfied with the way white people were represented and I'm guessing that is okay, but what made me truly angry is the racism. It happened back then and it still happens now so I think it would've been weird to show very open-minded non-racist soldiers when they were sent there to be just that. In my opinion, it would've been a grave mistake if the white soldiers were portrayed as good samaritans.

If I'm not mistaken, the role of the main female lead was offered to Son Ye Jin before this but she rejected.Since…
Ahhh... She herself felt she wasn't suitable for the role then? Okay. That makes sense. No need to apologize though, misunderstandings happen! Thank you very much to both of you for the information. Have a nice day!

Ahhh okay! Thanks for enlighting me. I'll support all of his upcoming projects I'm just a lil sad that he's not the main lead in this one.

Why would he be uncomfortable? Because she's 21? I'm not judging him, just wondering. That makes a lot of sense but I prefer KSH to SYJ for this role so I'm kinda happy SYJ turned down the role...

I'm glad we'll be able to see him in the drama at all but I was hoping we'd get to see him as the ML.
