Title Record of Youth Spoiler
for me BR was much better than this one... even though it had some flaws it also had some really good scenes and…
I see your point of view, and I agree with majority of it. BR definitely had few really good scenes (and the romance of support roles there - oh my god, it was so funny and cute :D). Also, I can agree with the feelings after episodes. Here I felt nothing after almost every eps too.

But my problem with these dramas that they gave me the same feelings. When I started watching BR, I was looking for a positive and healing drama after finishing Soul Repairer. Also I read that plot of BR is based on very popular webtoon, and I imagined something strong like Itaewon Class 2.0 with positive vibe. And in ROY I thought there will be a strong serious drama where a person survives the toughness of the world and strives for his dream despite all obstacles. I know, my expectations = my problems, but anyway. And first episodes of both dramas were great for me. I really enjoyed them until ep.5-6. But after that I began to feel frustration more and more. During the middle of both dramas I couldn't see any character development for main roles (to be exact, ML for BR, and both ML and FL for ROY). I still remember how angry and frustrated I was after the end of ep.10 of BR because of that. In the end of BR, I have even wished that FL wouldn't stay with ML, because that character doesn't deserve such a wonderful character like FL.

For me, this drama is the second disappointment after Backstreet Rookie this year. Such a waste of time. ;(
