Pleasantly surprised

I’ve been in a kdrama slump for so long and I’ve pretty much given up on them so I started with very little expectations. I cannot believe that they managed to make me be attached to every single character in the series.

Saw that it got renewed for another season which is surprising aince the budget must’ve been so insane for this. Not only did they cast a bunch of known actors, there’s a lot CGI (though it can be a bit bad at times) and sets.

Anyways all the technical stuff aside, the story is definitely what I loved the most but there are some parts where I felt like they didn’t address enough though:
— The Lightning Hero (I’m bad with names) literally wrecked two buses (1 when he was chasing frank, another 1 when he went in the school to help bongseok) and violated a bunch of traffic laws, how is he still not fired or at least reprimanded from his job? I guess it happened off-screen but why did they not show it?
— What happened with Bang Kisoo? Why did the sub teacher have to do that to him? Will this be addressed later on or did they forget this plot (hopefully not)?

Things that I’m excited about and hopefully get addressed in the next season:
— The whole end credits scene.
** With the change of the head of NIS, I think Jaeman’s criminal history is not going to be erased and NIS would definitely be more brutal about how they handle things because there’s no way that guy will compromise and would accept if things doesn’t go his way, Mr. Min might’ve been a big POS but I bet that new head will be much worse.
** Frank still being alive. I had a hunch that he must’ve been alive but when I saw Gyongpo did not get his eye back and it’s very much possible to not get certain body parts back, I thought that it’s possible he’s actually dead but alas he is alive and maybe that mean his regenerative powers are much more powerful than Gyeongpo’s. He’ll probably be an ally at some point since when he killed more and more people (especially that hair salon lady), he felt guilty and more sympathetic to his victims.
** ABCDEF. Seeing that Frank was the last person to finish the test must mean that he probably was the weakest out of the bunch. So they’re probably probably going to be strong af and I’m hyped to see their powers.
— The rat investigator dying. I bet he investigated too close to the sun and find out something he shouldn’t have, the question is what did he find out that he has to be killed?
— Kim Dooshik. Obviously he had the clapper’s treatment in North Korea but I think they’ll get more in depth in later episodes.
— Timestopper student. I mean what? This is so OP. He apparently transferred, so is he still an agent in South Korea? Or were they recruited by North Korea (doubt since it seemed like they sent every single one to get the trainees in the South) or US? Or did no one know that this student had that power? I’m just imagining it ain’t no way they’ll be able to defeat this guy.

WHAT A SERIES. I am so excited and hopefully the next season will be good!!

Was the book THIS bad?

Was Mutya ng Section E book actually this dumb? I remember reading it but I don’t remember it being THIS bad? The love interests for this show are literally the biggest babies in the world. I mean the both of them, along with the entire section, are terrorizing and bullying any girl that goes to your section just because of an ex who ghosted you? I mean why? Are they THAT scared of being attracted to a girl that they need to get her to switch sections? What is that logic?!

My anger issues cannot handle being bullied like this and I cannot understand why she would want to stay or why she would, at times, find Keifer hot when he’s literally being a man-child. This guy kept bullying and threatening you to buy their lunches and you’re attracted to him?! Couldn’t they think of anything reasonable to make him bully her? They could have known beforehand that she was Aries’ cousin and bullied her bacause of that— still would be a shitty thing to do but it’d be understandable instead of bullying her just because she’s a girl?? Even with all that she’s attracted to him?? Girl I get it, he’s good looking and all but I cannot even think of dating a douche that does this just because a girl dumped him. The only guy I’d be remotely attracted to in that section is Ci-N since he seemed nice but he already has his own respective love interest and maybe David(?) but doubt they would go for him.

Also, why are they banning the whole section from going to the canteen instead of just banning the ones involved in the fight? Is that even legal? Did no one think this through? Can the school actually get away from not giving the students the right to eat or buy food in the school canteen? JJ was not even involved with the whole thing but she still got banned.

The acting was BAD but the script is also not doing them any favors, the story just doesn’t work. Why couldn’t they hire a better screenwriter? I cannot see any real highschool students talking or acting like this. Even I can write a better script than this! It’s either they don’t pay them enough to care about the show or that they just let an AI write it all because what is this? It’s so easy (and I mean EASY) to actually turn the whole plot better but why can’t they? This book was written by a teenager who didn’t know better when they were writing this, they should’ve known to make small changes to make it logically make sense at least.

I’m still watching because I’m trying to give it a chance but frankly I know I’ll probably end up dropping it at some point. I will also read the book and see if it was THIS bad.

UPDATE: Read the first 3 chapters and will not continue reading the rest; I’d rather watch the show since I think the story will be basically the same as the book. The book was actually THAT bad lol. Wish the screenwriter edited it to make the dialogue and plot better but I guess they don’t care enough to make that much effort.

Also (though I hate to admit it) but the series kinda grew on me. I think I was mad because I thought Jay would be falling for Keifer the moment he bought her a froyo but thank God she didn’t. I still think it’s not the best show ever and imo it’s still bad overall when it comes to the technical aspects (acting, story, script, directing, pacing, etc.) but I think I enjoyed watching the show the moment I threw logic out the window and just accept it for whatever it is — which is a bad Wattpad TV show adaptation (I mean why was I expecting it to be good in the first place?). I’m still holding out hope that in the future filo wattpad adaption wouldn’t be as hard to watch but for now you wouldn’t catch me watching or talking about this in public.

I cannot let go of this couple…

I don’t know what it is that makes it so hard to let go of the couple but I refuse to just let it end here. I only watched NGNL so that I could watch this show and I just can’t get enough of them together (I even like them more than the main couple) . I am incredibly sad and I feel so empty nearing the end of the episode 2, knowing that my time together with the couple will come to an end but I guess all good things will eventually have to come to an end. Yes, the whole thing is ridiculous and unnecessary af, but I ate it all up and I didn’t even fast forward or use 2x speed the whole time they were together (which is, mind you, a very rare thing to happen when I’m watching a kdrama—I get bored so easily it’s crazy). I wish at some point the actors will get together in another kdrama but I doubt they would. I’m just sad to let it all end but it has ran its course and I just need to accept it ig.

Kdramas are disappointing me…

Maybe I’m getting older, but for me, kdramas are slowly getting more and more unwatchable. As someone who was once an avid of korean dramas, I wanted to prove myself wrong— I wanted to watch a kdrama that was fresh and was different from kdramas that I have been watching recently and maybe I’m expecting too much from this series but it definitely disappointed me.

The premise might have been somewhat new and relatively unique compared to recent kdramas, but they taint it with overused, unnecessary, and annoying cliches. The others were bearable but a love triangle? The only thing that this love triangle doing is cheapening the rekindling of the two main characters’ romance — I don’t see it as him realizing he loves her, but rather him just being possessive (which does not equate to love).

Everything is also all over the place. As much as the actors are trying to sell it, I just don’t understand why they loved and married each other in the first place, maybe we’ll see more of their relationship as we go, but so far, I also want them to just divorce.

anyways I really don’t want to dwell on this since I have only watched the first 2 eps, maybe it’ll get better later on who knows?
