It's a slowburn of a drama that keeps you wondering..The villains were terrifying & ruthless, each one in a different way.Choi Jin Hyuk's natural acting impressed me a lot.I'd like to see a more "conclusive" ending, but oh well, this drama captured me for sure.
The core of the plot is quite basic (at some point kinda boring & slow and that almost made me drop the drama to be honest),but its execution did the trick.Smartly written characters that the cast fleshed out the best way.A story with heart & humor.Overall,a fun ride. PS: 1) Kim Nam Gil 2)The bobbed wig ; It was a wig, wasnt't it? lol
Alluring & well..misty.Certain scenes were quite heart-wrenching. Great acting, especially the female lead's.I'd prefer a more "fair" (literally) ending, though.
My love for Korea started with k-movies.Then I discovered k-dramas.Then k-celebs,music,fashion,food & cosmetics ;) And the language sounds like it's my mother tongue now lool
Mystery Queen is an indie crime comedy which I almost didn't pick up back when it started airing and which ended up charming my socks off haha.My favorite character has to be the one brilliantly portrayed by Choi Kang Hee and that's because Seol Ok or else Ajumma is one of the quirkiest and most refreshing characters in dramaland.Sharp witted, charismatic, caring, feisty, brave, cheerful, stylish,an absolute darling.Next we have Kwon Sang Wo's character,Wan Seung.Devoted to his job and effective (having chosen that field for his very own personal reasons),cool and cheeky, but also scarred from his past, and at times grumpy and full of himself.The-human-relationship/partnership/friendship/bond that was developed between those two very different personalities as they happened to come together and work together was gold.Their brainstorming and team work when it came to solving cases, their bickering, the teasing, their funny and kind of flirty banter, the support and enlightment they provided each other, all that was a delightful and endearing thing to watch. Also, the squad that surrounded SO and WS,aka her best friend and his boss and his cutie of a colleague were such lovely characters. In my opinion, those characters and their interactions are this drama's strong suit. Now as for the plot. The individual cases were interesting, okay nothing that special there, and the "main case" was quite a let down in the sense that they would reveal bits and pieces to us throughout the drama, but they went and threw everything at us at the last minute, and then they basically left us hanging with an inconclusive ending and loose ends.I don't know whether they misplanned the whole thing, they lost track of the pacing and ran out of time in the end,or they did that on purpose having a potential second season in mind according to what I've heard?..Anyways,I get that the ending was dissatisfactory, but to be honest,it didn't bother me that much because-shall I call this wishful thinking?-one's imagination can work things out.
From time to time I would come across this one but I would pass on it thinking it would be somewhat "heavy" because of its main theme. Also,I was kind of turned off by its number of episodes. At some point though,I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did because it turned out to be a total gem of a drama.I'd describe it as a study on the korean society presented to us in the form of a family drama/black comedy/romance drama(/office drama/law-politics drama). It has its melodramatic moments and that's understandable given its theme,it's thought-provoking,serious and sincere in how it carries off all the topics and social issues that it deals with, but surprisingly enough,it's mostly entertaining and funny and heartwarming because of our young couple's love story which is sweet, believable and deep despite their young age.The writing and the acting are of high quality, but I'll admit that it got a bit boring at certain moments. My favorite character was the one portrayed by Lee Joon, his acting skills really did impress me (and made me a fan of his).As for the ending,it sure did the story justice as it was realistic and fair.By the way, only 7,6?Oh the sacrilege lolz
I used to think that this one would be a ''basic 2012 rom com'' if you get what I mean but to my surprise I enjoyed it.It was quite funny & the romance didn't suffer from needless cliches & drama.
Interesting concept that would get one curious about what's going on & what's going to happen next but I believe that the focus was given to the wrong thing aka the 'villain' plot device.I'd like it if the storyline had mainly focused on the relationship between the main couple & showed more of how it developed (it sure developed nicely but still),their life together as a time traveller & the wife of a time traveller etc etc.Potential wasted in my opinion. Also, this drama had an indie realistic vibe, but it would get a bit slow & boring at times. For me,Lee Je Hoon's & Shin Mina's acting & chemistry was the saving grace of 'Tomorrow with you'.
mo tae goo's ending was so creepy i can't tell if that was a hallucination or it really happened or…
Hallucination from the meds, him in his crazy mind facing his demons,or a combination of those.Either way,one epically twisted scene that I wouldn't expect to see in a drama.Whoah.
Started this one because I wanted to see more of Jang Hyuk's acting which I loved in previous works of his but to be honest it was basically Lee Ha Na's and Kim Jae Wook's acting that impressed me.Jang Hyuk's character was needlessly shouty, and I don't know,I felt that his performance was kind of,again needlessly, over the top especially when his character had his own ''intense" moments. Also, his lines were..lame most of the time, like why did he have to repeat facts that were already stated or state facts that were obvious and self-evident?!All that made his character come off as annoying in my eyes.Lee Ha Na was so convincing as Kang Kwon Joo that I still believe she is out there at the golden hour call center assisting people lol.I loved how composed and well grounded she was,her graceful aura, the smooth and calm way she would speak and act, always being nothing less than badass. Now,what can I say about Kim Jae Wook? His face, eyes, crazy smile/laugh,silent moments and voice said everything.A truly riveting performance. He embodied the character of a slick psychopath af.Plot-wise,neither perfect nor groundbreaking, and I felt like certain things were kind of choppy and rushed at times, but there were certainly enough suspense, agony and thrilling cliffhangers.Scenography/cinematography/photography-wise,I liked the dark, depressing, dull atmosphere that was created.Ost-wise,the sadness that stemmed from the song 'Voice' by Yuna Kim was so fitting.Oh by the way,the actors that guest-starred did a very good job,my favorite was the old lady with the brother, she was terrifying.
PS: 1) Kim Nam Gil 2)The bobbed wig ; It was a wig, wasnt't it? lol
