The director and writers deviated from the novel. The novel was leaning toward a happy ending than a sad ending. New things added in the drama: The variety show. Ke FeiFei and Yu ZheCheng being together and getting married. They broke up when ZheCheng was sent to Africa for 2 year. FeiFei and QinFei got drunk together, FeiFei got on stage cursing ZheCheng. She was saved by one of QinFei's coworker, an actor, which lead to a scandal. ZheCheng found out and cursed FeiFei. The actor and FeiFei eventually got together in the end.
Things they removed from the novel: QinFei helping JinNa with who her husband was cheating on. He was cheating with JinNa's cousin, WeiWei. They covered it and said QinFei was the mistress. The WeiWei later try to get QinFei to help her by saying JinNa was doing drug. Later XiaoXiao released the recording of their conversation to help QinFei and JinNa committed suicide as result. - Understandable that they didn't put this in as it would have been triggering and won't pass review. XiaoXiao and YanZe were married from the beginning, they did not break up. There was no Chen Shen. XiaoXiao retired from acting after YanZe lost his legs during a rescue near the end.

Actually, probably not what the drama intended, but people with HIV can only infect other through blood or sharing body fluid (saliva, breast milk, etc.).
HIV is not spread through hugging, shaking hands, sharing personal objects (like earplugs), food, or water. Also, HIV cannot be spread through the air or water, nor by insect like mosquitos or ticks.
Dang, knew the show wasn't gonna be great, but at least there will be visual and sexual tension. Thought Alen would get some decent scene time since A Journey to Love was popular and this drama did increased it's episode count :(
