It is possible indeed likely that it will not work, but it could serve as a kind of positive balance to the media…
Sensitivity varies from person to person, however I always ask myself, to what extent it is legitimate to demand respect for this sentiment or to extremes of "politically correct" and therefore the absolute impediment to words and ideas is risked. unjust censorship is always around the corner. Just because the author had already been accused of false historians, they should have taken the controls to extremes, since, as you said, it is a paid job. The sponsors who are not patrons as an end in themselves, have not protected themselves?
Of course I am not Korean and neither Asian (as a Westerner I am offended, perhaps, only, if my private life is poorly exposed), so I certainly cannot understand the exact feeling that has fueled the controversy, (even if the tension between peoples is not a prerogative only of a geographical area), however I believe that the ways to express dissent should be "civil", and not a media pillory.
That said, we discuss by exchanging opinions, without pretending to have the truth in your pocket, but trying to understand the reasons of others.
Ps: The possible abuse of power (in this case the media) always leaves me a bit perplexed.

I was planning to watch this but well...It seems I am in the minority here judging from the comments so far. While…
It is possible indeed likely that it will not work, but it could serve as a kind of positive balance to the media lynching that seems to be underway.
Could the distortion of history in a drama (which is fiction by definition) be so serious as to provoke such a mobilization? As you said, it's a Korean product written and shot by Koreans, so I wonder why they didn't notice such "serious inconsistencies" earlier. As I have already written, if it were the plot of a drama, one might think that all this chaos was the work of the antagonist who, envious of the hero's success, wants to damage him at all costs.

Is there anything in the world that has a univocal interpretation and on which, therefore, no one can have a contrary opinion?
I thought about it, but honestly, nothing came to mind.
For any subject, there are more or less different opinions even when this would seem impossible (some think that the earth is flat). Even history with its events, in my opinion, is not immune from multiple opinions. therefore, possibly, even speaking, we have to deal with personal, social, cultural sensitivities and here the question becomes complicated. Not knowing Korean history, I am unable to grasp the gravity of the mistakes committed by the authors of the drama. However, I don't think all this can can is related to the fear that the history of the country could be misunderstood (when I watched Mr Queen, I didn't think the sovereign was actually a modern day cook teleported into the past, but rather, intrigued, I superficially documented the true story of the characters mentioned). I believe instead that this chaos is due to the wounding (for reasons I am not able to grasp) in the sensitivity of part of the public.
However, I wonder if the "bad representation" of people / events, albeit of national importance, but so distant in time, can really be a source of offense. So how far can one go without risking hurting someone? Is it always the fault of those who express themselves if someone is offended or can it depend on an excess of "sensitivity" of the listener?
Was there anyone who, at the time of reading the script, or the acceptance of the product (the sponsors who decided to support it, did it in a poke?) Who noticed such serious errors? airing to highlight all this? Was it not predictable a priori? Especially considering that it is a Korean production, written and directed by Koreans.
What is certain is that the media lynching does not seem to be the reaction of "sensitive people".
If it were the plot of a drama, certainly all this chaos would have been unleashed by the enemy character who, jealous of the success of others, tries in every way to annihilate it. I apologize for my English as a machine translator, but I am incapable.
