I loved the humor, Zhao Lusi has great comedic timing, she kept me watching. However, a lot of serious scenes just dragged too long.

Gosh I had to pull through this drama. If it weren't for the main leads and some palace shenanigans, I would not have finished it. Its so slow, too much focus on talking about things that aren't important. Most importantly, they spend so much time planning the engagement and pending wedding for it to end.....without a wedding.....?????.....lol what????

Don't think they went from nothing. JXN was falling for him way before them sleeping together. The looks she gave him while he carried her twice, touching his face when he was sleeping....she just dismissed those feelings because she was afraid of him, she still thought he had her killed in life 1. For the second kiss, JXW basically said "screw it" and gave into her desire for XW.

As for the strict historical rules of the time, meh its fiction.

Now thats a happy ending! Was the show perfect no, but was it good? hell yeah. Needed more romance, but I'll let it go cause the story was really good.

Also the extra ep being their wedding and after......whew I could not stop smiling. I'm still smiling. Thanks writers, that was a good ride.

Thats why I'm okay with people liking it when personally I didn't like their first kiss being forced. I've learned- from booktok- about dark romance and its basically what you described above. As long as people can separate fiction from reality is all good.

I don't think she liked it either. I was playing devils advocate bc so many people here loved that scene and interpreted it as hot. Also, the romantic song made no sense, who thought it was a good idea? bc she looked upset

I didn't like that it was forced and framed with the romantic song, but I'll say that maybe she actually liked the kiss....? You can see she was kissing him back while trying to push him away. I guess others see may have liked it, BUT she thought that since he wasn't in the right state of mind and not conscious to what he was doing, therefore, she pushed him off of her.

I have a bone to pick with the director, those light flares are mad annoying. I get what they were trying to do, but its too bright.
XW mad as hell trying to convince JXN to stay, like sir that isn't the way to do it lol The force kiss......look....the song didn't even fit. That wasn't a romantic kiss at all. However, I do like that she finally knows who he is and is starting to like him back. Like finally, took 100 years.
So little episodes left.....how they going to tie everything together?? Rescue the princess, meet the Yans again, confrontation between XW and the Duke. Thats a lot. This is where a season 2 was needed or at least 60 min eps. I need an emotional scene between XW and his father. Also, want him to confront the empress.
Anyway, I like how the story is flowing, I just think resolving everything in so little time will be difficult to do.

yep. they pretty much mislead people with so much romance in the previews. Not cool, if you ask me.
