Luoyang's cinematography and choreography for the fight/chase scenes are actually the best I've ever seen in cdramas :)

When I first saw the trailer, it looked like it could be a movie since the quality looked really good. I'm glad the drama didn't disappoint (I know sometimes the trailer may look really good, but the drama itself may be more low-budget looking lol). Def recommend this drama to everyone, especially newcomers to period dramas, who love visually pleasing cinematography, interesting plot, and good acting ! :)

I didn´t watch everything, jumped to ep 20.The ML´s sister got cancer and everybody was there for her except…
I'm just starting this drama (on ep 4 rn, and i dont care about spoilers much so i've been reading reviews on it haha) but based on your comment, it feels like the ML, since the start of the drama, definitely cherishes the memories he had with his sis and FL since his wallpaper in the present day is the three of them. I think he might still like her (based on what i'm seeing in the beginning), because if he really hated her, he could have just chosen a photo with only himself and his sister. I wonder if that could explain why he forgave her so easily (based on ur comment)? Like the fact that the entire time, he still had feelings for her deep down even if he didn't know it himself ? (I could be totally off though, I'm not too far in yet haha)

I think this is the case with a lot of the heavy romcom ones but there are still so many great cdramas out there!…
ahhh thats the same for me >< WOH was my last one then i got busy w school and when I was about to get back into dramas, so many things happened, so I'm focusing on idol groups and other shows instead.

Have you seen a show called Chuang2021? I would highly recommend that one for great music and performances, very talented trainees, wholesome friendships, and a lot of laughs/fun!! :)

Thank you for this insightful article because it is very, very, very needed and I honestly don't watch Cdrama…
I think this is the case with a lot of the heavy romcom ones but there are still so many great cdramas out there! I find the ones that focus on plot with a side of romance, instead of the entire story revolving around the romance, are actually really enjoyable, especially the historical/wuxia ones. For example, Legend of Fei was one of those that had a strong female lead and a very respectable male lead, who would support her when she needs but understand that she's independent. And other ones like Word of Honor and The Untamed had likeable characters and relationships.

I hated that scene in Meteor Garden 2018. He forced a kiss on her and she had to begged him to stop. It blew my…
yeah...and they justify it with him "changing for the better later" :(( but she still seems pretty traumatized and wants to avoid him?? i never understood it ><

This is a pretty well-written article! One of the most popular dramas that everyone seems to like is Meteor Garden 2018. I couldn't even get past like 10 episodes because the ML basically forcefully kisses her, and she pushes him away and runs off, I think crying too. There were so many other scenes in this drama that made me extremely uncomfortable, particularly the ML's attitude and violence towards the girl, but people would often say things like "but they're so cute later on!" which I never understood :/

It's also one of the reasons why I didn't enjoy A Love So Beautiful at all, despite watching the entire thing, because the FL pretty much stalks the ML for majority of the drama but people pass it off as "she was just a young girl in love and wanted to impress him"..

Moonlight is actually one of my favourite dramas, despite Zhou Chuan's character being childish sometimes. The vibe of the drama felt a lot more mature. I did watch Love Is Sweet and the two leads did have pretty good chemistry especially the proposal scene, but I did often question the ML's actions and find it uncomfortable that he would lie to her to get her to do things for him.

Overall, I just hope these scenes and this type of behaviour stops being romanticized so much. Somehow dramas always try to make this like a "heart-racing, romantic" scene, but most of the time it's pretty awkward to watch :/ (esp the forceful stuff like in Meteor Garden)

Same, I loved Gank your heart so much, its definitely worth watching more than once (which I have). Its actually…
Gank your heart is definitely my second fav drama (after the untamed). I really loved that the characters weren't like falling in love randomly and just so that the show has romance, but because they genuinely supported each others dreams and became closer. C: I haven't rewatched yet because of a certain you-know-who that appears later and just frustrates me haha but I loved watching the scenes with Ji Xiang Kong XD

Wang Yibo is literally the most talented person I've seen (just my opinion, pls don't hate). He really is a talented all-rounder in everything - from things like his hobbies in extreme sports to acting to dancing and other idol skills and more.

There are a couple of shows that are definitely noteworthy that you didn't mention, but I wanted to share.

1) Street Dance of China Season 3 - this is currently airing but it is definitely Yibo in his element, where he is in a warm environment and surrounded by street dancers, which was pretty much what started his career. You don't only get to see him dance, you also get to see how he treats other street dancers and leads them as a team.

2) One More Try - Another show that Yibo was a part of which revolves around skateboarding, one of his biggest hobbies!

In both of these shows, you can really see him enjoying himself as he is doing the things he loves in a more natural environment, on top of him being passionate and hardworking.

Also I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put it here (but please let me know if I can't and I'll edit it out), but for anyone that uses reddit, there's a subreddit dedicated to Wang Yibo (https://www.reddit.com/r/WangYiboUniverse/) that was created recently to share news and his social media posts, and discuss anything C: We'd love for you to join.
