Q: Ji Ling brings a lot of comedy. Did the "real" Tian Jiarui ever slip out during filming? Tian Jiarui: A lot! Especially the scene where Ji Ling is healed by the Dragon God and runs back in his original form. The director wanted a specific silhouette, so I decided to pay tribute to the legendary Liu Xiao Ling Tong (the Monkey King from Journey to the West). I did those specific jumps and sounds to show Ji Ling’s pure and playful nature. (Laughing) But keep in mind, I'm an adult now, I don't usually act like that!
Cast Dynamics
Tian Jiarui: I love a happy working environment. I think everyone performs better when we're laughing. I think I can improve the atmosphere on set. I try to play the role of that 'cheerful little dog' that cheers everyone up. If each department can be a little more cheerful and relaxed, it helps reduce the pressure of work. Otherwise, the atmosphere just becomes heavy and suffocating, and nobody can be happy like that.
