The idea is to have a transition starting with Jiarui's martial arts training, specifically those close-ups of the hand seals, and then, the moment he 'throws' a talisman onto the screen, the scene changes to him fully characterized as Yun Jiuchuan with an impactful soundtrack. Looking at how precise his hand movements are in these training photos, I can totally see it happening! This shows his dedication to the mystical elements of the role. I really hope the studio gives us an edit like this! 😍🩷

Yes!! I also saw that little paper doll, I thought it was super cute lol. From what I've been researching on that XHS link (the blue text), that doll is like a spirit storyteller who helps Jiuchuan! And you're right, it's going to be a mess separating humans from ghosts lol. I counted about 15 main characters in those leaks... there's everything: there's the ghost general Fu Yuan who is super old, the white tiger, but there's also the human side like his uncle who is an officer, his best friend who protected his soul for years, and even a family patriarch. The coolest thing is that it seems Jiarui will have a 'squad' of allies, both human and supernatural. It's going to be a crazy puzzle, but I'm already loving this mystery vibe! 😍😍🩷

About that "sharing a body" part, it actually comes from the very first technical sheet and rumors we saw a few weeks ago. According to that initial synopsis, the protagonist Yan Jiuchuan is the reincarnation of the Heavenly Punisher, which is basically a powerful deity or a celestial force responsible for executing divine justice. He has this massive, godly soul trapped in a frail, short-lived body. It was also mentioned that he might share a mystical connection with a character named Zuo Ya, who is the Master of the Tianguan Pavilion. In that version, Zuo Ya supposedly holds a fragment of the kind soul from Jiuchuan’s previous life. This creates a dynamic of attraction and repulsion between them, which is probably why people are talking about sharing souls or fragmented identities. However, I want to make it clear that this is just my interpretation based on all the reports I’ve gathered. Since the official Douban synopsis is a bit more vague, we can't be 100% sure if the final script will follow these early details exactly.
