Hirofumi Arai who plays Yuya (the scout) is zainichi korean. As an easter egg, you can see various korean instant ramen in the kitchen as a reference to that.
Bad horror movie. I didn't feel scared at all and it was just boring. Literally the last 30-20 minutes was her constantly hyperventilating and crying. Ending was also horrible.
This movie reminds me yet again that foreign actors are just not good. The scene near the start with the concerned face from him and Nishida you can see the difference, with his more forced unnatural look on him compared with Nishida's very natural facial expression. Happens again in the part where he gets angry, it just seems exaggerated and unnatural.
"The six films were conceived as low budget exercises to explore the benefits afforded by the low-cost Digital Video medium such as the increased mobility of film and the low-lighting conditions available to the filmmakers." This is the most interesting part of the movie otherwise it's just meh for me. One thing that I found funny was there was a scene with the mic showing near the top. It also showed the limits of camcorders like lack of detail, colors being washed out, lack of sharpness/dithering, and probably the worst being it overexposing everything to the point where outdoor scenes look very bright and overly white. Also it was Maeda Ayaka's 2nd film and was the one that got her some attention compared to her first movie. Interestingly there's a scene of her being naked showing her breasts but they blurred it. Probably done after the fact at the request of the actress? Or it could be because she was 17 at the time?
In episode 2, the part where she is moving files from the laptop into the usb you can clearly see that it was just a prerecorded video playing instead of her actually manually moving the files. You can see the windows media player logo on the top left and clearly see that she's not on her desktop because on the top right you can see the minimize/X button. You can even see two mouse cursors as one is the actual one and the other the prerecorded video. Funny thing is that it's showing a macbook UI when actually it's windows. Thought it was funny they left that in, all they had to do was play the video in fullscreen.
In episode 2 at the 19 min mark where he leaves the restaurant and is calling Maiko, he has his selfie camera app open instead of the phone call app, which I thought was funny.
In ep4, around the 11:34 mark he said "genzen" when it's supposed to be "genzai" for "present". Look it up I don't see any alternative pronunciation for this unless I am mistaken
