You also butt into a comment that was talking about parental pressure in a very light hearted way and was just giving example that it's not unrealistic for an asian mother to behave that way. You first brought in regressive culture and then pseudo patriotism into all this when the neither of this was needed. If you have so much problem with a korean drama showing how a korean mother behave then go and watch your western shows. Also don't western dramas show regressive content as well?
Well, she did say that her mother almost broke her leg in the past, so I'm not sure about the "not hitting that…
You do understand that showing her exaggerated reaction was just for comic purpose, right? Even then she is only aiming at her back and legs. If people start getting triggered or offended by things shown in a romcom without any ill intentions and solely for comedy purpose they should stop consuming comedy. Koreans comedia has a lot of physical comedy and hitting someone on the back or shoulder isn't considered to be something that big esp when it's done by elderly figure who genuinely loves them. It's wrong if someone does it with a purpose of insulting someone in a public place or offic and when that happens it's shown in a serious tone and not as a comedy.

You seems to have some kind of superiority complex and is spinning my words. Nowhere in my comment I brought in patriotism and was talking about asian culture in general and not just India. There are extremes in both society and culture. There is obnoxious parental behaviour in western society as well. If you have problem with Korean society and culture being shown in a korean drama you should just stick to western dramas.
gosh yall hype everything,,8.7 really ? same way you all hyped lovely runner that was sobad, boring and bland
As if you have seen 16 episodes of this drama already. It didn't even air half of it. Just because you don't like LR doesn't mean others don't have the right to love it and enjoy it.

You know that it's just an exaggerated way of saying. Her mother clearly won't be hitting her child and break her legs. She ain't some evil psycho person. She is just like a typical overbearing asian mother who likes her kids to have everything she never had.
To all the people who are triggered because of the high rating for this, you need to chill. Believe me, if the…
Why are people triggered if the rating of a drama is not according to their personal liking. There are dramas which have ratings in 7s when it starts and I see comments saying why is it just 7 it deserves more and when they are in 8s a set will be like why does this have 8+ rating it don't deserve that. It's only 2 episodes and the rating will keep fluctuating and the rating will be constant only after the drama ends.

If you find parents from a certain culture been too involved in their kids life wierd, those cultures find kicking out 18 yr olds from their house and not supporting them financially for their college more weird. That's not very progressive as well. Recently there was a video of an 18yr old girl crying because her parents asked her to move out of the house and she don't have anywhere else to go. Let's not measure other cultures based on your own surroundings. Every culture has pros and cons of their own.
I feel good that i can enjoy dramas without getting triggered from literally everything . people these days are…
I agree. What do people expect from a kdrama romcom? Romcoms are filed with cliches and they do take creative liberty for comedy. Some people are just there to nitpick on literally everything and can't enjoy comedy as comedy.
i really dont like how the FL is so violent with the ML. like i understand if its the playful type but this is…
She is in her early 30s and not 50s or 60s. People in their 30s nowadays aren't that matured. She has been staying alone for a long time and her family has put her in a pedestal. So obviously it will be hard for her to tell she was fired from her job and her fiance cheated on her and probably dumbed her as well. It's a korean drama and Koreans are very judgment and she will be judged hard for all this even though she wasn't at fault. They are childhood friends and she is used to hitting him in a playful way. Not everything needs to be taken seriously and then over analysed on. Friends don't need to thank each other esp the ones who are basically like a family. In India there is a famous dialogue saying there is no thank you and sorry in friendship.
He stated his age in episode 2, I think it was 34 from memory
34 in korea might mean 32 in international age. As far as I have seen Koreans get married in mid 30s to late 30s esp the career oriented ones. I guess except for the second lead non of them are completely settled in their professional life to think of marriage. The fl was going to get married until everything fell apart. Korea anyway is facing low birth rate problems and is a highly expensive country. Most youngsters sees marriage and children as a luxury.
The daughter's character is one of the central characters and have layers, the makers should have cast a more skilled actor in that role. Naeun don't fit in at all and even though she has more than enough reasons to not like the father, the lack of acting is making her look more bad and it's hard to root for her character. If they cast an actress who was capable enough to bring out the vulnerability in the character it would have balanced out her overprotective and possesive nature towards her mother. The father is hard carrying the show.
The first two episodes were pretty strong and I like the equation between the leads. The child artists playing the leads are so freaking adorable. The female child artist is really good with that 'i will kill you' expression. The only thing I didn't like was that the mom was getting on my nerves till the last 5 mins of ep 2. In the first episode itself we got two shirtless scenes from two hot guys π€. Inhyuk looks so much hotter here than in LR.
